I booked the hotel based on previous reviews. The pictures are misleading. The hotel is nothing more than a 8 bedroom house. Location is great for Downtown and close to everything.
The staff is extremely helpful and they do have someone at reception 24 hours.
Shower is very small and by no means I am a big man but was hard to fit in.
The location is great. It's super close to the DBO station and other local bus stations. You can also take the R1 bus to the beach areas. It's also close to a square where you can find delicious and cheap Mexican local foods and snacks. There were also free shows every night at the square. I also had lots of opportunities to talk with local people there to practice some Spanish phrases I learned. It was a good deal to choose this Hotel.

Xbalamque is a beautiful Mayan Themed Hotel smartly located in downtown CancunMore
We went to cancun for the first time as a single couple and decided not to do a all inclusive resort. We wanted to find something fairly flexible in price and we landed on Suits of Melecon! The view is ok (constructioning) but the suit for the price per day was absolutely worth the bargain then getting an small room on the ocean side for far more expensive. There's a mall connected to our hotel and you can get anything from liquor, food, or even grocerys which makes it very conveinient on our stay. Instead of staying in one hotel zone we decided to get a car and roam all over cancun for the best authentic Mexican restruraunt!
"Affordable accommodation away from tourist area."
George (owner) and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The Cancun neighborhood was inland, somewhat away from the coast. It is close to a city bus stop, if you are adventurous enough to use the local transportation. $8 pesos (about .40) one way gets you almost anywhere in the city. Neighborhood was safe, as was lodging. Included excellent continental bfast of fresh fruits, toast, coffee, but staff will make you wonderful eggs with salsa verde for about $3 US. Wifi could be a little sketchy - had to find just the right spot in the room. Room cleaned every day. George has special arrangement with a taxi driver who will take you to the airport for $300 pesos ($17), vice the normal $700 ($40) pesos.
Also known as El Centro, Cancun Downtown is where locals live and shop. Plaza las Americas is an American-style shopping center with large department stores and small specialty shops. Mercado Veintiocho (Market 28), an open-air flea market, is an alternative to the chain shops. Tourists often venture into area supermarkets for souvenirs and liquor. Plaza de Toros features weekly bullfighting.
