"Surprisingly nice hotel,a bit iffy of neighborhood"
We selected the hotel based on location, since we were visiting a daughter who lives south side Chicago. The hotel was better than expected -- clean/comfortable rooms, great service, free (secured) parking, and good rates (for Chicago). The nearby neighborhood isn't great, but it was well located for our requirements and we weren't planning on walking around anyway.
Has shuttle service to and from campus... hotel has pretty nice places around to eat, and the neighborhood in general feels much safer than you'd expect around that area.
Room was nice, complementary internet and breakfast, and overall, front desk helpful.
Most amazing view and location but this run down and unkept condo needs some attention. Broken furniture, outdated electronics, musty smelling cheap towels were some of the problems. Great layout and close to train station.
Mell and Angie were gracious hosts. Mell dropped us off in the morning and on the way showed us historic places in the neighborhood. Breakfasts were feasts! When we and the other guests got back after our day out, we all sat in the kitchen talking like family. This is not just a place to lay your head. It's a great experience. We loved our room. The hose is beautiful. It's close to busses and trains and churches. I went to the historic and gorgeous Corpus Christi Catholic Church, but the Mt. Pisgah Baptist is just around the corner. If you enjoy Chicago history and art, Mell and Angie have walls of photos and paintings.
