Congress Plaza Hotel

520 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago - Map
"Great location!"
Rooms were very old. Our room didn't have a heater only window unit ac unit which blew in cold air in 30 degree weather. Very very old rooms including shower which water barely came on. Staff was top notch. The Parking fee and no breakfast were a bit much too. Can't beat the location but if your wanting a modern or even this century room look elsewhere as I believe the last time it was remodeled was probably last century!

Not happy that booked through expedia with parking included but when checked in it did not include parking. Parking is expensive in Chicago. Otherwise, room was very nice. Front of hotel a little hard to find. People not as friendly when walked into hotel. Not help at west desk. Had to find east hotel on my own. Otherwise, very nice hotel and clean.

Best Western Grant Park Hotel

1100 S Michigan Ave, Chicago - Map
"Affordable hotel downtown"
The location is excellent and having valet was very convenient. However the door to the room had a decent size gap between it and the floor, meaning we could hear everyone around us in the halls. Overall a decent place to stay though!

Hotel Burnham, a Kimpton Hotel

"On the Loop"
It's the second time we've stayed here for our annual Girl's Getaway weekend. Both times, we've had very good experiences--the staff is friendly and welcoming; the décor is subdued and modern but plays well with the original vintage details in the building; the restaurant serves comfort food with a modern twist (Short-Rib Hash--yum.) The neighborhood is walkable with enough shopping, sights, and restaurants to keep you busy and full during your stay. Since it's technically in the business district, there isn't an overwhelming amount of night life (though that's not too far away) which would probably make it appealing for families as well. AND, they are pet friendly--which I did not know but do appreciate since I have dogs I would love to travel with.

"Very nice, new hotel."
Very nice, clean, new hotel. Very close (within walking distance) to Chicago attractions, restaurants, shopping, transit. The free breakfast was excellent. If you leave the hotel hungry in the morning it is your own fault. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again if we make it back to Chicago!

You’ll find no shortage of things to do when you stay in the hustle and bustle of Chicago.

If you’re looking for an all-around good time, head for Navy Pier. Constructed in 1916, the pier offers something for everyone, whether you’re travelling alone, with your family, or with a gaggle of friends. Ride the Ferris wheel, rent jet skis, or explore some of the many restaurants lining the area. Want to explore the local culture? Go west to the Riverfront Theatre, a giant tent located on a riverfront complex. Besides a great view of the river when outside, the theatre itself offers performances of comedies, dramas, musicals, and everything in between.

Any first-time—or repeating—visitor to Chicago needs to see the Cloud Gate. Head over to Millennium Park and take in the shining, seamless bean, which has incited wonder since its dedication in 2006. Millennium Park itself has a number of things to do such as visiting McCormick Tribune Plaza. During the winter, this plaza is an ice skating rink; in summer, it’s a restaurant.

There’s so much to do in The Loop, you won’t want to drag your heels to a far-off hotel at the end of every day. When you stay in Chicago, downtown hotels give you the best bang for your buck. They’re close to shopping areas like The Shops at State and Washington, so you’ll have somewhere to leave your purchases; they’re also close to the nightlife along the waterfront. You might not even have to take a cab back in the evenings!
