"Very nice, maybe too big"
We had a great time, the hotel, the food and the staff are mostly great. Things we would have improved: the activities at the kids club. On the babies club, there were too few adults per child, so it wasn't fun at all for them. My 3 year old daughter didn't want to stay. They just took care of them, no activities. Also, the staff of waiters (coffee, drinks, spoons, etc) need a little more attention. The food is wonderful, but you have to fight for a spoon or a fork.

"Second time as good as the first"
This is a great place to stay, the staff is wonderful from the front desk personnel Lizzet and Rafael, who remembered us from a year ago, to the cart drivers Israel, Alberto and Antonio, all do what ever they can to make your stay great.

"Beautiful Resort and Beach"
I went with my boyfriend and two of our good friends and we had a great overall experience! The resort is absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the colonial section of the resort, and had very quick and easy access to everything (the food, beach, spa, etc...) which was all fantastic! Although I would say we ate at the beach access buffet only once; it wasn't up to par with the other options-- but the rest of the food, the beach, the pools, and the spa were absolutely gorgeous and the service was fantastic. One thing I want to mention is make sure you set up reservations for the restaurants when they open the desk (one person has to get down there around 7:15am) or you will be eating very late if they can squeeze you in. The only other thing I would add is if the manager tells you she is going to make something complimentary make sure you either watch her call ahead to tell them or get it in writing. Anyways, all said and done, we had a great experience! The place was beautiful, the staff happy, and the excursions offered are fantastic. I would highly recommend the Tulum excursion. It was a jam packed all around awesome experience!

""Limited beach" but great pool areas"
Good: The resort area was very clean, and there were plenty of restaurant options. The pool area had plenty of activities going throughout the day - water exercise, yoga, bingo, dance lessons, ping-pong, etc. The paths around the resort were really beautiful. There were paddle boats, canoes, and surfboard-like activities included in the cost; be sure to get there early to enjoy them! We got to see some fish on our own with snorkel gear without going too far into the water. The kids got a kick out of seeing so many iguanas and coati hanging out. Not so good: I was disappointed that the beach area was quite small compared to the hotel we stayed at in Cancun. We were looking to spend more time in the ocean floating around, throwing the Frisbee on the beach, etc. There really wasn't much clean sandy area; I would recommend taking water shoes due to rocky areas. There was so much seaweed that it smelled bad. Of course, this might have been the same issue in Cancun if it was due to a storm going through earlier. Our room was really cold at night and the "2nd bed" (a couch with cushions out) was super hard. All in all, I would recommend this resort if you're ok with taking a "trolley" to different parts of the resort. The fitness room, miniature golf, other lobbies, different restaurants, etc., were a bit far to walk especially when it was super hot. Getting a shaded area ( & lounging chairs) around the pools was easy since there were so many in the resort.

Catalonia Royal Tulum - Adults Only - All Inclusive

My wife and I just travelled to the Catalonia Royal Tulum to celebrate our anniversary. The resort is beautiful. They have done a great job of integrating the buildings and pathways into the jungle. The buildings and rooms are well maintained. We didn't have any issues with any of the amenities. We particularly like the Coati that roamed the paths between the buildings. They were fun to watch. Also liked the sweet cat that showed up every night outside of the second row of accommodation buildings on the main pathway. My wife named the cat "Ki Ki". PLEASE FEED THE CAT IN THE EVENING! It will make my wife happy. The food and drink were above average for an all inclusive. Our cocktails were always strong and made right. The food got a little repetitive for breakfast and lunch with limited options but dinner was nice as there were a number of restaurant choices. We really enjoyed the steakhouse. There are a lot of things to do at the resort and surrounding areas. We spent time at the pool and on the beach. Did some snorkeling off the Catalonia beach, went to the nearby Tulum Mayan ruins. The staff really does their best to keep it entertaining and find ways to engage the guests. Overall, it is a great resort and I would recommend it to someone looking for a good value all-inclusive in the Riviera Maya.

"Best beach hotel we have ever visited."
This was our 4th stay at this hotel. The renovations were very impressive and the beach was just as wonderful as we remembered it. We swam with sea turtles, so many fish and tried paddle boarding right at the facility. The abundant staff were delightful and always so accommodating. Our penthouse room was a delight and the air conditioning worked great. The food was a great improvement over past visit and with 7 restaurants to choose from even picky eaters seemed please. We will visit again.

"Quiet Hideaway...time & place to decompress"
A very short trip for us, but we will be returning. A nice relaxed vibe. A low key, understated and well kept property. If you don't want the large resort and love peace & tranquility, this place is it. Beautiful clean beach. Very hospitable staff. The food was excellent. One must have the juevos mortulenos at breakfast. The room's decor is very simple..all in white. very calm and clean. Great smelling all natural soaps, shampoo & body oil. Nice music selection in the ipods. Excellent massage at the Spa. One must do the morning yoga. I did Anusara yoga with Olga. She was a wonderful teacher. The pools are long enough to do some laps if you want a little exercise. The pain au chocolat in the early morning pastry basket was to die for. Don't step away from the basket or the birds will come and get them. The bungalows are nestled into the natural fauna. I saw several typed of birds, iguanas, squirrels and even a slim, fast garden snake. You get the full experience get to be surrounded by nature and have the comfort of luxury accommodations

"Great stay if you dont slip and fall"
Our stay coinsided with a tropical storm but we found they chose to bury all the seaweed in the sand right at the beach so the sand was dirty and full of dried up seaweed. Also the floors are super slippery when wet. A member of our party slipped in his room from a roof leak and had to go to the hospital. The resort refused responsibility. His leaky roof was an act of god. We saw several people slip and fall on the slippery tiles. The place overall was well kept and decent food provided.

"Relaxed beach stay."
Wonderful place to stay right on the best beach for snorkling. We saw turtles everytime we went out. You are in walking distance to everything you need. I would recommend renting a car if you want to go to Tulum, Coba and some of the Cenotes. Highly recommend the Grande Cenote. Tulum ( on the ocean) has wonderful views but at Coba (in the jungle) you can climb one of the ruins. It is huge and the view from the top is amazing. It's a bit of a walk through all of the ruins. They have bikes to rent, but you need pesos for that. Wonderful place to stay! Everyone there is so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here. It's nothing fancy but it was perfect for us!
