The location cannot be beat. The hotel was updated, staff was great. Our room was clean and comfy. The only downside was the walls are really thin. They have quiet hour signs, but I could hear our neighbor through the wall and they were not being that loud.

Worked a Trade Show two days in a row after setting it up the day prior. Rather than commute to the Valley and deal with the traffic we decided to stay Downtown and save the headache. The staff were amazing at the hotel and the location perfect. The rooms are nicely appointed and we had one of the curved rooms that are fitted with floor to ceiling windows that cover the entire exterior surface. The restaurant was good, service fast and friendly. Our only gripe was the smell of the air that came out of the A\C, it smelled like the filter had not been cleaned in a very long time. We couldn't use it so we endured a warm room most of the night.

    "The Empress gets a facelfit"
I write about my experience at the Empress as she is in the middle of a grand renovation. The renovation is having quite an impact, but the old damme has grand bones underneath and will probably emerge even more beautiful than before. At this time the spa and pool are completely closed. The staff have done their best, setting up a tiny one-room "fitness center" in the interim, but it will not satisfy dedicated exercise enthusiasts. Sadly, my personal favorite, the Bengal Lounge, is also no more. The new Q-bar has a nice view of the harbor, but it doesn't have the character of the old lounge. The rooms are wonderful, and when they face the harbor even more special. The staff is wonderfully attentive. After some initial hiccups during my stay, I left a not-so-nice check-in review on Expedia. The hotel manager contacted me an hour later and offered me some lovely perq's as compensation. High tea is a delight, but wildly over-priced now. It is still very popular.

"Nice Hotel within a short walk to EVERYTHING"
Nice hotel. We stayed in a small 1 bedroom suite that was perfect for our needs. I used the spa and pool after skiing and the area was never too crowded and was clean. They do charge for parking, which was a drag, but not unusual for the village hotels. My only real complaint is that there was a weird food stain on the carpet in the living room that was really noticeable.
