Formerly a run-down 80s hotel, Westin put a coat of paint on this building, and raised the prices on rooms, food & amenities to astronomical levels. It doesn't help that tipping culture has gotten out of hand, meaning we paid $120 USD for a modest dinner.
It's not unexpected for Cancun, but our stay prompted me vow to do better when finding a holiday spot.
Despite all this, the staff were friendly, helpful and genuine.
