At the time of our stay the property was undergoing remodeling at the roof bar, restaurant, and pool. The reason we choose this hotel was because the photographs online looked so beautiful and relaxing. Instead, our view was of a construction barrier surrounding the pool and the pool bar was closed all together. We felt a little duped when we paid full price for a hotel that had limited services.
At check-in our room was not ready, the front desk instructed us to go upstairs to have lunch while we waited. She did not mention that the upstairs was under construction, and we discovered this on our own. Once we returned to the front desk, we let her know we were not pleased with the situation and how no one gave us any notice or indication that the facilities would be very limited during our stay. We really felt like we should have been given some kind of notice and given the choice to stay elsewhere, as the purpose of our visit here was to relax and enjoy the rooftop pool, bar and sunshine.
To make it up to us, she "upgraded" our room. Well, she certainly got the last laugh at our expense as this new "upgraded" room (#224) overlooked 5th Avenue, where at least 3 separate restaurants and bars with live bands played until 2am and the parties continued until at least 4am. And then, the cherry on top...the service closet is one step across the hall from our room where housekeeping begins prepping their carts at 7am right outside our door. Not to mention having to navig
