Upon our check-in RUI Tequila was overbooked and they provided us a taxi to go across the street to another one of their properties (RUI Playacar). There are several properties within a five minute walking distance. At RUI Playacar, we were impressed. It was on the beach and very nice. Pools, beach and rooms were very clean. Food was better than expected, and drinks were horrible but unlimited. Staff was great and every staff member you passed spoke. Well worth the money. Upon booking a excursion through EXPEDIA while there didn’t go as planned and we were never picked up, nor did the company Extreme Adventure Cancun answer their phones and when I called Expedia they told me to keep trying to call the vendor and there was nothing they could do about it. I will continue to call and demand my refund.

This is such a wonderful resort. It was my 5th time staying at this location and I will be back again and again. The staff, location, animals, shows and food are all excellent!

Love this property this is the second time we have stayed ... the staff is super friendly, you may not be by the beach but do have access to it as well to food and bar area through their sister property. Will definitely go back again - tequila riu is the best bang for your buck

This was my first time in Cancun so I did not know what to expect. It was a last minute weekend getaway. I'm familiar with Riu resort in Jamaica so I thought it would be the same. I was a bit disappointed by the food. I didn't eat much each day. The meet quality of the burgers and hot dogs were terrible. The drinks tasted a bit watered down. The towels were dingy and needs to be replaced. The service was kind of shady as well. I felt like white people were treated better than black people. I noticed the staff was more attentive to white people. It was blatant and disrespectful but it was noticeable. I enjoyed the time off and the weather but don't think I will be going back their again for vacation.

My hotel was change to the Yukaton across the street. I was told they over booked. I booked my reservation and no one knew that my room was not available until I traveled for 14 hrs total to get there. At that point I didn’t have any energy left to complain and fuss. I just wanted to rest. The service is not what I am accustomed. I had to get everything myself and there was no above and beyond. The food was limited in choices. I was disappointed. However after I was switched to the Riu Yukaton, I was able to walk to Riu Tequila. This was a birthday celebration which was told to all the staff yet, no one attempted to do anything special in celebration not even a shout out. Definitely not acceptable.
