60, Rue Prince-Arthur Est, Montreal - Map
"apartment off pedestrian street in Montréal"
Two friends rented an apartment on Prince Arthur, a pedestrian street very near the lively Rue. St. Laurent. this is a great location with a bus stop on Sherbrooke only two blocks away. It's possible to buy everything you need on the nearby streets. The area is a bit run down - in transition I guess - but a taxi driver told me that long drawn-out construction on the main street nearby caused some shops to close but that things are picking up again. We found it funky and were not bothered. The apartment itself was excellent – spacious, reasonably priced, with an extra bathroom and separate sleeping areas. There was one big bed downstairs and a Murphy bed upstairs. Both had memory foam mattresses which some people don't like; we were okay with them. The kitchen was very well-equipped except for a corkscrew (in Montreal!). There is a long steep set of stairs going up to the entrance to the apartment, and no elevator. I don't think this was mentioned in the online information so that should be highlighted for visitors to have issues climbing stairs with all their luggage. The cleaning staff did a superb job – the apartment was impeccable when we arrived. We've suggested to the owners that small tables could be put in the bathrooms to make room for toiletries to be laid out; for two women the simple sinks with no vanities made it difficult to prepare in the morning! The staff who provide the information for how to enter the apartment were very helpful and friendly. 5 stars!
