"Heart of Downtown"
Room was clean, bed was good, price was right. Room was much too warm and even though it was late November, had to have window open all night but I do that at home a lot anyway. The only downside (and out of the hotel's control) was the very noisy activities outside. Because of it's location in the heart of downtown Montreal, and the numerous restaurants and pubs in the area, it did not quiet down until after 3:00 a.m. Check in was easy and because we arrived several hours early, the hotel staff stored our luggage in a back room for us, until we could come back and officially check in.

Hotel Quartier des Spectacles

17 St-Catherine West, Montreal - Map
"Pleasantly surprised by all the facilities in room"
We were pleasantly surprised to find a full kitchen in our room and will definitely book again if they have equivalent room with a large bed. Unfortunately our fault we ordered a double bed instead of Queen. Staff initially not that friendly - no friendlier or more helpful than any other hotel as had been suggested on trip advisor - perhaps it's because we didn't speak French - but they came around in the end. Great location in the heart of the city for sightseeing. Metro station close by. Nice free breakfast. Small entrance hard to find when driving in city you don't know.

Casa Bella Hotel - Montreal Hotels

Casa Bella Hotel

264, Sherbrooke West, Montreal - Map
"My first experience with a Montreal budget hotel. "
I had become used to paying $140 or so a night at name-brand hotels in Montreal and thought I would try to save money by selecting a budget hotel. The Casa Bella is a large multi-floor Victorian-era home that has been converted into a 19-room hotel. My room was small and basic with a wash basin, soap, shampoo, towels, mirror, single bed, chair, window, TV and WiFi facilities. Shower and toilet facilities were shared and were close to my room. These facilities were clean and well equipped, although I washed with towels in my room and did not use the shower facilities. The bed seemed clean and well maintained although the white sheets were rather thin. My room was extremely quiet and I slept well. A complimentary Continentsl breakfast brought to your room is offered but I had to check out early and did not partake. The two staff members I encountered when checking in and out were very friendly and courteous. All in all, the Casa Bella offers excellent value for money at around one third the price of name-brand hotels as long as one is not expecting restaurant and bar services, etc.
