Fabulous!
Amazing location and many comforts. Beds and bedding were wonderful. Bread, milk, coffee, butter and juice for the first few days was a lifesaver. Very responsive to leaking toilet, and problems with penthouse gas fireplace.

The property was well maintained and the owner communicated effectively. Nice welcome touch with a loaf of bread, milk and orange juice. Somehow I misinterpreted Two bedroom suite as two bathrooms - my bad! It worked out alright for my mom and husband. There was a construction going on nearby but they were done early enough, didn't bother our dinner hours at home. Overall, nice stay.

The unit we stayed at at Alma Manor could not have been more comfortable or more pleasant. A short walk to the beach, a short walk (1 block) to a street with cafés and restaurants and a very good bus route. The owner was extremely accommodating and answered any questions we had promptly. I will recommend Alma Manor to any friends traveling to Vancouver and have already done so.

It was quite a treat to stay here. We loved the easy access to transportation to get wherever we wanted. It's a nice walk to the beach and there are ample grocery options nearby. We used bikes, transit and feet to get around and absolutely loved Vancouver. Our downstairs Irish neighbors were a bit noisy but otherwise it was a quite neighborhood.

Enjoyable stay
Alma Suites were very clean. The entrance spray smell was not to my taste but that was not important. The seating in the entrance and outside was lovely to sit in. The property is on a pretty road, with on street parking and close to a convenient bus route. Also walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants etc. And a beach. Plenty of hot water fir the shower and bath. Communication with the owner was excellent. The studio flat had everything we needed except personally, we would have liked curtains as well as blinds as the early morning sun in June woke us up. A fan was provided but only one window opened for fresh air. As the studio was on the ground floor, maybe that is for security. Overall, we stayed 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It was so thoughtful of the hosts to leave orange juice, milk and bread in the fridge as a welcome! The only thing we didn’t love was the bed - not entirely comfortable, especially the pillows were the kind with very little give, unfortunately. This wouldn’t stop me from booking again, though. The place was beautiful, clean, a reasonable price and the host was very thoughtful and easy to communicate with. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

This was a great place for a couple with 4 kids spending a week in Vancouver. There was no air conditioning, but we were comfortable at night when we opened windows. The area is great, located near lots of beaches and excellent public transit.

So much better than a hotel -- great bed, great bathroom, very nice kitchen, great sitting area. Whole unit is updated despite being in an historic building. Lots of light coming in from big windows. Only negative was traffic noise, but it settled down around 11 p.m. and the mornings were quiet. Stay here and you don't need a car -- Vancouver's clean, efficient buses go to all directions from right outside the unit. You can be whisked right into downtown in about 10 minutes. Not the best unit for people who have trouble with stairs, as you climb up to the front door and then once inside, up to the unit. .

We loved our stay at Alma Beach Suites! The location in the Kitsilano neighborhood is exceptional, charming, and beautiful with easy walking access to the beach (we took nightly walks), cafes, bakeries, restaurants, Whole Foods, a park, tennis courts, buses, etc. It felt like we were living in Vancouver. We used buses or taxis to reach downtown, Stanley Park, UBC, Gastown, Capilano Suspension Bridge, etc. We stayed in the one bedroom English Bay Suite, the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies, and we received a sweet welcome basket with delicious bread, milk and more. Manfred was so helpful in emailing relevant information and sightseeing recommendations in Vancouver, too. We will definitely return to this special place.

Great house in a beaut, accessible neighbourhood
A very pleasant staying in a nice classic Vancouver house, located in a lovely convenient neighbourhood. Great kitchen, comfy beds, great outside deck. Transport to downtown literally 2 min walk. Good supermarket less than 10 min walk. Liquour outlet with good range 2 min walk. We were really able to experience Vancouver at its best, and the house left a great impression! Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Vancouver.

We really appreciated the welcome pack on arrival. Milk, bread, cereal, juice, tea, nespresso capsules and cookies. Access was exactly as stated in the email from the owners. Every access door in the building is coded so you always feel secure. There’s a laundry room where washing machine and dryer only cost a dollar to use. Laundry capsules were even provided. Everything you needed for a very comfortable stay was provided and WiFi was excellent. The beds were extremely comfy. The bus stop is only 2 mins away with a very regular service to downtown and UBC. There’s a good choice of restaurants within walking distance. The owners were excellent communicators. We really enjoyed the location of Alma Beach and would have no hesitation in recommending. Next time in Vancouver we would hope to stay again.

Great Space! Could use some tweaking.
Hosts were excellent. Directions perfect. We stayed on the main floor two-bedroom suite. Lovely basket in the fridge with bread, butter, juice etc very much appreciated. The main space was lovely. We were able to have our son and girlfriend with her mom for dinner - we made salmon bought from the Granville Island Market. The only comments I could say is while this house is on a fairly quiet street, the main street behind is quite noisy. The windows are original in the home so very thin glass hence a lot of noise from traffic. I would suggest the owners mount blackout drapes in the bedrooms to control the noise and light. We went for an amazing walk through the park across the street and down along the waterfront. The main street close by had everything we needed, restaurants, coffee shops, grocery etc... It was very quiet in the home. There were other guests but didn't see them.

It was a great location, very clean. Very comfortable and spacious, just what I needed for my stay. Full kitchen made it easy to make my own meals, would definitely stay there again. The only downside was all the stipulations for cleaning up afterwards, it's not a cheap stay and I had to make sure my dishes were done, take out the garbage, and sort the recycling out back. I could pay $50/ night at a hotel and not have to do any cleaning, maybe that's something they can look at in the future.

Handy for UBC
The location is terrific - it has a grocery store nearby, tea shops and busses. I needed to be at UBC and it only took 15 minutes by bus to get there. The location is very near the water, so I was able to run along Point Grey to the beaches and have some lovely runs. I didn't see any staff; you need to be pretty self-sufficient in your unit - but it had everything you could need. I appreciated being able to buy my own groceries and preparing my own meals (especially breakfast!) The unit was spotless. I was in the Ambleside suite. I believe other units might have a more up to date bathroom. The kitchen looked to have been recently renovated - with large, stainless steel appliances (including gas stove). The unit was very quiet, despite being right by the front door. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay.

A comfortable stay in Kitsilano
A good location if you want to escape the city hotels. Buses are easily accessible - the bus stop is around the corner for no. 2 to downtown Vancouver for less than CAD $3 one way. There was a welcome basket in the fridge with milk, apple juice, butter and fruit loaf which we appreciated. Comfortable studio accommodation and the owner was very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and spotless with everything you need to self cater.

Amazingly comfortable and relaxing environment
This is our 2nd time staying at alma beach and it was a pleasant stay. It is so quiet, staff is super friendly when you contact them and owners were great to deal with. Plan on booking here again next summer!

Great unit, neighborhood
I have only good things to say about the unit. It's a beautiful place. Quick walk to the park and beach and several wonderful restaurants. Staff support is not on site so you have to text/phone and wait for a response. This became an issue when our door lock wouldn't lock. We had to wait a full day for someone to arrive and address it. The real problem right now is that the house next door is undergoing major re-construction. So every morning we were woken up at 7:00 am with jack hammers and loud voices. Every morning. Even Saturday. I wouldn't stay there again until the construction is done.

Thanks for your mostly positive comments. Alma Beach Manor is a self-catered accommodation so we do not have staff on site. However, Naomi and Trevor are within reach and are very responsive to guest requests. We also provide an extensive directory in each suite that provides lots of information. The construction next door is limited to garden work and we did ask the owner to not start any work until 8 AM, which he has done. The garden work is done now. It is rare that Vancouver houses have AC as the weather is generally temperate and especially in our case where we are so close to the ocean which moderates the temperature and night time is usually cool and all the windows can be left open as there are no insects. Comfortable Home Away from Home
We stayed in the English Bay Suite, which was perfect for our needs. The living room/kitchen/dining area overlooked the intersection at MacDonald and W. 4th Ave., but the bedroom was well insulated from any noise. The bed was very comfortable, and the suite was clean. We appreciated the basket of goodies. There were several good restaurants within a block, notably Jollie's Indian Bistro, Raviolino (great spaghetti for carbo loading for the marathon), and The Oakwood Canadian Bistro. It was easy getting around on the buses, which stopped nearby. To get there from YVR, take the Skytrain Canada line and transfer to a bus heading west at the Olympic Village station. You need $2.75 in coins (Canadian) for the bus. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood, looking at the beautiful houses and the bay. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location
Situated in a lovely neighbourhood I enjoyed my stay at Alma Beach Suites and was able to walk to locations such as the beach, Granville Island and many near shops. The addition of some basic groceries in the fridge on arrival was lovely after a long flight to Vancouver, thank-you to the hosts!

BEWARE
This property charged more per night that some of the luxury hotels in downtown Vancouver! My studio room was not centrally heated!!! Winter anywhere in Canada requires heat. The Sudio room had a dog-leg shape with bathroom being farthest away from a wall mounted electric fireplace. Even if the fireplace could have been left on 24 hours a day the bathroom would never have warmed up. The other disappointment was a soiled area rug and no information that the building is at he end of a no exit street meaning it was difficult to find my way to the front entry door. All in all an expensive disappointment that will not be repeated. When the broker contacted the owner regarding any compensation he flatly refused. P.s there was no staff on the site.

Also surprised to hear you had a problem with the heat in the suite, which we learned 3 days after your check out. Had you contacted us during your stay, we could have provided additional heat sources. We have 3 sources of heat in this particular suite, perhaps you were unable to use them? As you may be aware, Vancouver temperatures were well below normal during your stay. We strive to provide an enjoyable guest experience. We are available by telephone/email 24/7. You are informed before check in, the suites have a keyless entry access, this is a self catered suite complete with full kitchen cooking facilities, a studio apartment, not a hotel room, no onsite concierge.
