"The hotel was quiet and clean, and the breakfast is an excellent added value. I do think charging a daily rate for parking is a bit of a cash grab, and perhaps a flat fee per stay would be better, if anything. In spite of that, the hotel is in close proximity to the harbour and very walkable. We’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it! "

"An older hotel but clean. Within walking distance to the main attractions. Some of the rooms are still being renovated in a different building, but the noise was kept at a minimum. Our room was nice. The kitchenette is convenient and well stocked. My only complaint is the beds are rock hard. Not good for folks with back and hip problems. Other than that, I was very satisfied. Would definitely stay there again. "

"The property is Classic in every sense of the word. Steeped in history, yet not staid or overly traditional. The service is over and beyond from all the staff. Big shout out to Kevin Hung in Guest Services. Kevin had a bottle of Prosecco and a personal note for my father's 70th birthday, and making note of his last visit to the Empress 30 years ago. Top notch for the Empress."

"The view from the rooms is incredible. There's a five mile harbor walking trail just outside the door as well as interesting shops and many good restaurants. Staff is friendly and helpful. The suite has a kitchen and is very roomy, with a 210 degree view of the harbor from the bedroom and a 180 view from the living room. Note that my room had a locked connecting door to another suite which shared my balcony, but no one was in that room during my stay. Worth asking about if traveling alone. "

"We had a great stay here. Beds and pillows are so comfy. It is in a great location close to everything. Got the newspaper to our door in the morning. Complimentary breakfast is included. Staff was knowledgeable about the area and helpful with directions. The hotel could use an update, but it is clean and comfortable."
