"The rooms needed to be updated. It smelled like mildew and Indian food. The whole reason we chose to stay here is because it had a pool. We checked in, then was told the pool is broken. My kiddo was super unhappy. The lady (Monica) then told us dont worry, we have rec passes and that we could go over to the rec to go swimming. I asked what time the rec closed and she said it was open until 10:00. I said great, we will be back by 8:00 to get ready because we had a choir concert to go to. I then looked online when we got up to the room and the rec was only open until 8:00. So then, once again, my kiddo was so upset. I called down to inform her the rec closed at 8:00, just so she was aware and wasnt telling other kids that came in that it was open later than it really is and she said okay thanks and that was it. I then spoke with an agent from Hotels.com and he asked them for a partial refund and they refused. So therefore, the one and only reason we statey there and intown that night was the pool and everyone ended up being disappointed."

"this makes me doubt the validity of trip advisor ratings since it has over an 8 and is easily in the bottom ten percent of hotels i have stayed in. The place is run down, filthy, there is no hot water, luke warm at best, breakfast should be eliminated as it is awful, only positive is inexpensive. The free wifi was unreliable."

"There was a bag of garbage left in our room when we checked in. I told the attendant about it and asked for a discount which I did not receive. I placed the bag outside in the hallway and asked the attendant to have it removed and it remained there for 2 days."

"Awful. Chlorine smell on one side of the hotel. Didn’t even stay for breakfast because the rooms were dirty including the bathroom. We changed rooms and at the same price the room had less stuff like furniture. There was an offer to have us switch rooms for a third time but no offer for an upgrade or points. They wouldn’t even see the rooms and clean them because they said the cleaning staff went home. Old and dusty fixtures and furniture. Torn ottomans in the lobby. Just an awful mess of a hotel."

"Trash was left over night and it happened to be next to my room and it smelled bad."

"The air conditioner works, the lights worked. No pots and pans for cooking in the room. Told them about that and they said did you look under the sink? What a bunch of condescending people. I looked in every cabinet, I told the arrogant person at the desk and he asked if I looked in a certain cabinet. No pots and pans for 2 days. He brought some to the check in desk and expected me to take them to my room. I told him to take the pots and pans to the room, I said it was his job. He said they would be at the check in desk. Bottom line, I had no pots and pans the entire time. That person that ran the place was rude. The silverware was stained and pitted. The coffee maker was a joke. There was water in it for from who knows when. It was slimy under neath. I would never stay there again. I told the person I would leave if I could get a refund, he said he couldn't do that. So instead of making my own breakfast, I had to go out to eat. The glasses were all water stained and looked like they needed washing. The bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan, if it did, it was non operational. The entire bathroom was a steamhouse. I'd rather stay at a freeway underpass than stay at the Main Stay hotel."
