What a great experience. The rooms were beautifully appointed. Service was excellent. Very quiet but in an excellent location. Would absolutely forgo the large and often overpriced chains and stay here again.

Loved the hotel itself and how accessible different areas of the city are. We were forewarned about the noise as it is a busy part of downtown. I think it is unavoidable wherever you go but we felt a bit unsafe at night.

Expect that this place is a bit older, with the charm of an old-fashioned elevator - substantial feeling - and a swinging 60s type decor. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful. I appreciated the included breakfast, which just started our days of exploration off really well. We could walk or take transit to the things we wanted to see, and one of the cable cars was close enough to be an option for transit.

The hotel was great, very comfortable stay and the staff was very accommodating. The area is tricky and isn’t the hotel’s fault. It’s a direct line to Union Square which is great but if you go two blocks down, you will hit the shady area of Downtown San Francisco. You just have to be mindful of that.

My stay at HI San Francisco hostel was really nice. I love the room as cleanliness was maintained properly and they have 24 hour desk services to help. Also, there is a big kitchen on 3rd floor we can store the food there and use it later, also have opportunities to meet new people . It was a wonderful stay for me.

As with a lot of hotels in San Fransisco, you never know what you get until you step inside! What a wonderful surprise!! It is a quaint, comfortable, beautifully decorated boutique hotel. There is a lovely breakfast room and sitting room downstairs. Breakfast was delicious and the "happy hour" from 5-6:30pm was a nice "wind down" at the end of a busy day - and a great way to chat with people from all over the world! The rooms are very cozy. Didn't think we would need the fireplace in our room...

I travel to SF every xmas for a party. I have stayed at this hotel several times. It is not the fanciest of hotels, but it is clean and pleasant. They have everything you need for a few nights stay and they are very close to the trolley line and Union Square. I would recommend this hotel for business travelling or a short stay up to 4 nights.
