"We just got home from our 8 night stay at the Barcelo Maya Palace (May 16-24th). It was such a great time for my family with kids age 11 and 14. The grounds are so beautiful. The beach had some sargassm, but it did not bother us and they work hard so hard to haul it away. The entire time we were there was red and yellow flag days but we enjoyed the water everyday with no issues. The waves were manageable and fun! Staying at the Palace gave us access to 4 other resorts. Expedia and Barcelo gave us a Premium upgrade as a VIP, giving us access to the premium lounge and access to the hydrotherapy at the spa was great. Thank you!! We chose the Palace because we scored a great deal and after watching the food reviews wanted to have a little more selection. Although our room was near the back, we are fully capable of walking and this helped us manage enough steps after big feasts! If you have small kids or mobility issues, you may want to book a premium room to be closer to the action. The place also is very wheelchair, wagon or stroller friendly. The bus stop was right out the back entrance and the adult only pool was close by and an advantage to the back rooms. Food was good and we always found something and mixed and matched stations to create what we wanted. I was thankful to have packed: sunscreen, after sun, better shampoo and conditioner, comfy shoes, water shoes, sun shirts, snorkels, insulated cup, band-aids, Immodium, and Gravol and plastic bags. Fun times!"

"I loved the canal view from my room. There is a swimming pool and a "pool" was created with ocean water and tropical fish, that has water flowing in from the boat canal. It was early May, low season, when I stayed and I felt like I had the place to myself. The room was nice and had everything I needed. You might want to rent a bike or a golf cart to get around. I loved Puerto Adventuras. The ocean water was calm and clear to swim/snorkel in because of the artificial reef. Very safe and quiet. Good to get away from the chaos of Playa del Carmen. I had a rental car (note, there is no parking lot at this hotel) so it was easy to drive to restaurants and the beach. I wonder if the hotel serves food at dinner time in the high season? "

"Condo was very roomy, enjoyed the outdoors patio. Pools were very large and well maintained, just steps away from the condo. Beach area was great, numerous palapas for shade, lounge chairs, and nice access to the ocean. My only complaint was the day I arrived at the property I had not received any information on how to access the keys to the condo. It took me about an hour to get connected with the rental management because I had no access to Wi-Fi, luckily the attendant at the security gate somehow connected me to Wi-Fi with his phone service. This was very stressful especially after a long day of travel."
