We just got back from our honeymoon at Catalonia. We were nervous about this being a kid friendly resort but had no issues with kids being crazy or loud. We booked the Privileged Romance room and would do it 100 more times. The privileged status was so great giving us better liquor and being able to go to a restaurant (B Loved) without reservation was so nice. There’s also a privileged only pool and beach area which was less crowded. Dinner reservations were very hard to make but luckily Victor at Guest Services was really willing to help us out. He checked in with us multiple times throughout our stay and actually remembered emailing with us about this trip being our honeymoon. Couldn’t ask for better service from him or any of the other hotel staff. Our romance room came with a hot tub, 3 course steak dinner and couples massage at the spa. It was so great!! The resort is in a neighborhood area where a short walk will talk you to some pharmacies, restaurants and a place to swim with dolphins and we felt very safe doing that. Was nervous about the hour long drive from the airport and potential longer drive back with expected traffic. We encountered no traffic on the way back as our flight home was at noon on a Saturday. We left the hotel 4 hours before our flight and would definitely recommend doing that as the Cancun Airport is a mess. We used Cancun Shuttle as our airport transportation and had a great experience with them too.

Fabulous staff, friendly and helpful. The room we had was clean but needed updating. Need a different system to eat at the restaurants that needed reservations. You shouldn't have to get up before 6am to get your name on a list. Grounds were kept very clean and we're beautiful.

Our overall experience at the Catolina was good. It’s in a good area right by Tulum and Playa del Carmen if you feel like taking a day trip the transportation at the hotel is great. We took a boat by the marina for a day and did the “jungle experience” excursion the resort offered and those were both great. The days that we stayed at the resort we pretty much winded up doing the same things. Unfortunately the night club has been closed since January so we would wind up and the beach bar or lobby bar. Leo the guy at the beach bar was awesome and funny! The lobby bar workers not so much.. I would say the age range of guests is wide, we went with a large group of people in their 20s and we had fun but i think it would have been a little better if the nightclub was open. The food was okay. Most food did not have very much flavor so whenever we found something decent at the buffets that’s what we stuck to. We did make reservations at the Italian and Japanese restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was the best food we had while staying there so I’d recommend that! The Italian restaurant food was okay but the view there was amazing! As far as reservations go you can get a reservation for up to 6 people and book online very early in the morning (i got the both reservations at 5am) Last recommendation I have is to upgrade to the Priveleged suite. Most of our friends just got the base rooms and the difference between the two rooms are drastic!

This lovely hotel gave us an upgrade to stay at the Catalonia Royal Tulum, which is adults only. They upgraded us for free and we had an amazing stay. Only thing was one person was allergic to mushrooms and a lot of the food was cooked with mushrooms and didn’t have signs.

I stayed here from 2-16 thru 2-19. The staff was very friendly. My room was clean. All the food was so good and the drinks! Definitely got our moneys worth. We got help with booking excursions at explor for $160 a person with all day fun it was so nice with free food and drinks as well!

This was a budget friendly vacation. The al a carte booking system was not great at all, needed to get up at 2 am to get the restaurants you wanted. Very limited seating around pools and palapas. The one thing that absolutely made our trip amazing was Senor G (Gerardo), he was one of the bartendars and was absolutely phenomenal, definitely what you want in a bar staff member on your team, great personality and genuine human being, thanks for making our trip amazing!!
