"We had a lovely stay at the Martis Palace Hotel. It was close to shopping and a variety of restaurants. A grocery store and pharmacy were within walking distance in case you want to purchase some water/snacks or if you forgot a needed toiletry. "It was a really quirky and interesting hotel, very clean, and the staff desk staff were very helpful. The one weird thing was that I left the "do not disturb" sign out for my whole one-week stay and someone came in and cleaned the bathroom and replaced towels that were not on the floor while I was out one day. "We had a one day extended stay after A 10 day Greek Isle cruise before flying home in order to finish touring Tome, Vatican and Sistine Chapel. We arrived before checkin time. They allow you to store luggage, told us some good spots to eat. We returned less than an hour and our room was ready early. Able to put bags in room and literally walk across the street and up the steps to the Vatican! Fantastic location. It is NOT a real touristy area but nothing there is except the Vatican. "

"Beautiful elegant reception downstairs, old world Italian charm, but a bit disappointed in my room, which I hoped would follow suit. A sizeable room, which was great, but pillows terrible and was expecting a nice decor bedspread, but just “sheets” when we walked in. Asked for a second chair, but she said “no”. In all though we enjoyed our stay- wished couple next door would not have talked so loud next door late into the night."
