Apr 19, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Fantastic stay Property was clean and fresh. It's a lovely quaint cottage with all mod cons. Loved listening to the ducks in the evening and in morning. The only downside is there isn't a corner shop nearby for any last minute or forgotten items. There is however an Aldi and Morrisons not far by bus with stops outside so ideal if you don't drive. Would highly recommend and will be booking again. Thank you xx ##### Elly H. May 31, 2025 #### Our stay lavender cottage I’ve stayed at many properties, and this one is good to look at as it is so old, but the comfort is not so good. The house is ideal as being so close to the manor. We stayed here for my daughter’s wedding, with my sister's husband upstairs and my family downstairs, The problems I had were the side gate open, and the shower not easy to use. The shower head small water goes on to window may be a curtain up, The beds are cricked, single not comfortable bedding cheap, need nice large towels, no welcome pack milk bread butter etc as there no shops near? There is tea coffee sugar The garden lovely but no relaxing chairs. Blind up at the back door window, The ducks are great. This house is clean just needs a few bits upgraded to make it more comfortable. Also, need to cover the water drain by the chair's table my grandson fell in it a few times you can get a plastic covering to go around. Some fly screens over windows upstairs to stop mosquitoes, as we were bitten. ##### Sarah F. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Peter W. Oct 7, 2022 #### A week’s stay My husband and I stayed a week in this cottage. We had a lovely time. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The garden was perfect for both us and our dog, a springer spaniel. It might be a little tight for space if five people stayed, though. There was a lovely walk straight from the cottage door, which went up to a nature reserve. On our last night we had a meal in the pub at the corner of the road (can’t remember its name), which was delicious. I would recommend both the cottage and the pub. ##### Peter W. The location was excellent next door to the pub Dairymans Daughter who are very friendly and do excellent food with the bonus of 10% off if you are staying in Lavender cottage , but do tell them when going to the bar !!. There are Arreton Barns around the pub which are small individual units selling sweets , blown glass object, doggie things , leather goods and much much more . As for dog walks couldnt have been better .... the downs within walking distance , fields , lanes all secure for off lead runs !! our two had the time of their lives. Position central to the Island and tourist places all within half an hour. Would recommend , it has an enclosed back garden and designated parking space. Compact and bijou. The cottage was cool and the garden was lovely and shady which was a boon in the weather we experienced. We stayed for 6 nights, couldn't have asked for a better place. Two pubs within yards of cottage, both with good food...no noise. Lovely farm shop a mile down the road. Ideal location to explore the Island. Would recommend it for a peaceful relaxing break. I would love to stay here again but as mentioned in previous reviews the mattresses are poor quality and the worst I have ever slept on. I had hoped that as others had mentioned the beds that they would have been replaced but sadly this was not the case which is a shame as we liked everything else This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Alison W. Sep 15, 2021 #### Perfect Island stay Lavender Cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the island, making it easy to explore. It’s very well equipped & comfortable. We loved having the toilet off the master bedroom upstairs, saving night time journeys downstairs! Also loved the other toilet being separate to the bathroom. The car park at the rear is locked in the evening, but there’s plenty of parking in Pump Lane at the front of the house, so it was no problem. To be honest, I think the photos & description of the cottage don’t do it justice - it’s really lovely! We had breakfast in The Dairyman’s Daughter next door in Arreton Barns, which was a great start to every day. There’s a well-stocked farm shop 20m away so you don’t need to bring much food from home. ##### Lynda H. Aug 17, 2021 #### Recommendation We really enjoyed our trip to the Island, the cottage was comfortable, clean and warm and enabled us to travel around the lsland visiting different place. Would absolutely recommend this cottage as a place to stay. ##### Amanda B. The cottage is in a lovely situation but unfortunately the beds are so uncomfortable in all three rooms that none of us had a good nights sleep. The ground floor double bedroom has a bed with a wooden frame which extends beyond the mattress and catches your knee as you go to bed. Also it is held together by wooden planks underneath. The mattresses on all 3 beds were thin, hard and very uncomfortable. The upstairs room is on a mezzanine floor and has no door, effectively making it part of the main living area, with the associated noise and lack of privacy. The kitchen is very basic - a small fridge and no freezer, 2 medium saucepans plus a frying pan. We had to purchase oven gloves, a cheese grater and dishcloths which we did leave for the next guests. I'm sure that this cottage would be OK for a couple who don't mind an uncomfortable bed and want to eat out, but for our 3 generation family (grandson, daughter & son-in-law, grandparents) this was really not suitable and we were disappointed after paying nearly £2000 for the week including the ferry and fuel from home. On the plus side, we did like the location, and the cottage was very clean with a comfortable seating area and large garden. Jul 5, 2021 #### Lavender cottage Arreton isle of wight We found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped. However although it is equipped for 5 people there was only the 2 of us and I think it would feel a bit cramped with 5 adults. Maybe a family of 4 would be fine. It was in a lovely location and the on site shops especially the farm shop were a bonus. There are 2 pubs locally but due to staff shortage one only did lunch and the other stopped serving meals at 4pm.We found it very convenient for touring the island and you can drive to most places in 20 minutes. Also lots of footpaths and beautiful walks. On arrival we found milk in the fridge and tea ,coffee etc plus some lovely local fudge ! Overall a lovely stay with no major problems. ##### Pauline B. Oct 24, 2020 #### Feedback No heater in third bedroom. Beds not comfortable. Only five mugs so always having to wash these up. Daughter was bitten in the upstairs bedroom. No cushions on the settees but this may be Covid related? Expensive to rent. ##### Kevin S. Aug 10, 2020 #### lovely cottage this is a lovely cottage ideally placed for easy access to the whole island. the local pub is great for food and just down the road you have the hare and hounds one way and the fighting cocks the other ##### Stephen C. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Julie B. Jun 15, 2019 #### Cosy, delightful, all we could wish for We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Lavender Cottage on the Isle of Wight. We took our two girls aged 15 and 11. We all enjoyed it. We had 2 very good pub restaurants to choose from each day to eat, The Dairyman's Daughter and The White Lion , food was excellent in both establishments and we got an extra 10% off at TDD for staying at the cottage. Highly recommend ##### Julie B. Stayed 7 nights in May 2019 This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Sarah A. Mar 18, 2019 #### Adorable cottage in excellent location. Beautiful country walks on the doorstep. Central to everything on the island and on the edge of the grounds of Arreton Barns, Lavender Cottage has everything you could possibly need, The large garden was perfect as we took our spaniel. There are stunning walks right on the doorstep. It was great for us with the dog as The Dairymans Daughter pub is dog friendly (as is almost anywhere on the island). The cottage can sleep five which would be fine in good weather when you are out and about most of the day but a little tight if you plan on spending a lot of time inside (but why would you with so much to do on your doorstep?). We loved our stay and would definitely stay at Lavender Cottage next time we visit. ##### Sarah A. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [The Morgan Resort Spa Village](https://www.expedia.ca/Simpson-Bay-Hotels-The-Morgan-Resort-Spa-Village.h17524915.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn London-Gatwick Airport by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Horley-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-London-Gatwick-Airport.h16918.Hotel-Information) > > [Cave Hotel & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Faversham-Hotels-Cave-Hotel-Golf-Resort.h33410673.Hotel-Information) > > [Hotels in French Quarter](https://www.expedia.ca/French-Quarter-New-Orleans-Hotels.0-n800072-0.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) > > [Hotels in Bathurst](https://www.expedia.ca/Bathurst-Hotels.d6057899.Travel-Guide-Hotels) > > [Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire](https://www.expedia.ca/Hook-Hotels-Four-Seasons-Hotel-Hampshire.h986107.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Honolulu-Hotels-Hilton-Hawaiian-Village-Waikiki-Beach-Resort.h13857.Hotel-Information) > > [Royal Whitby](https://www.expedia.ca/Whitby-Hotels-The-Royal-Hotel.h57917040.Hotel-Information) > > [Hotels in Tuktoyaktuk](https://www.expedia.ca/Tuktoyaktuk-Hotels.d4092.Travel-Guide-Hotels) > > [Lakes Hotel and Spa](https://www.expedia.ca/Windermere-Hotels-Lakes-Hotel-And-Spa.h901040.Hotel-Information) > > [Millcroft](https://www.expedia.ca/Penrith-Hotels-Millcroft.h26994538.Hotel-Information) > > [Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa All Inclusive](https://www.expedia.ca/Kantenah-Hotels-Grand-Palladium-Kantenah-Resort-Spa-All-Inclusive.h889965.Hotel-Information) > > [The Greenway Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.ca/Cheltenham-Hotels-The-Greenway-Hotel-Spa.h520203.Hotel-Information) > > [Hotels in Downtown Halifax](https://www.expedia.ca/Downtown-Halifax-Halifax-Hotels.0-n6217399-0.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) > > [The Porch House](https://www.expedia.ca/Cheltenham-Hotels-The-Porch-House.h4595892.Hotel-Information) > > [The Belfry](https://www.expedia.ca/Birmingham-Hotels-The-Belfry.h3976.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Hull Marina by IHG](https://www.expedia.ca/Hull-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Hull-Marina.h10609.Hotel-Information) > > [Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/Manchester-Hotels-Park-Inn-By-Radisson-Manchester-City-Centre.h2601411.Hotel-Information) > > [Pine Lake Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Carnforth-Hotels-Pine-Lake-Resort.h1928661.Hotel-Information) > > [Burgh Island Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/Kingsbridge-Hotels-Burgh-Island-Hotel.h34611055.Hotel-Information) > > [Luxury Hotels in Winnipeg](https://www.expedia.ca/Winnipeg-Hotels-Luxury-Hotel.0-0-d6141041-tLuxuryHotel.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) > > [Delta Hotels by Marriott Heathrow Windsor](https://www.expedia.ca/Slough-Hotels-Heathrow-Windsor-Marriott-Hotel.h3830.Hotel-Information) ### Flights > [flights from malaga airport](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/airports/agp/flights-from-malaga-airport) > > [Flights from Montreal (YUL) to Narita (NRT)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yul/nrt/montreal-to-tokyo) > > [Flights from Calgary (YYC) to Reno (RNO)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yyc/rno/calgary-to-reno) > > [Flights from Calgary (YYC) to Hamburg (HAM)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yyc/ham/calgary-to-hamburg) > > [Flights from Vancouver (YVR) to Manila (MNL)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/yvr/mnl/vancouver-to-manila) > > [Flights from Cancun (CUN) to Toronto (YYZ)](https://www.expedia.ca/lp/flights/cun/yyz/cancun-to-toronto) ### Activities > [Things to do in Edmonton](https://www.expedia.ca/Things-To-Do-In-Edmonton.d180002.Travel-Guide-Activities) ### Packages > [Greece Vacations](https://www.expedia.ca/Greece.d67.Destination-Travel-Guides)
