"Oahu on a budget without the conjestion of Waikiki"
We stayed at Turtle Bay for 7 days and decided to extend our vacation for an additional two days. However, 2 additional days at Turtle Bay would have cost and arm & a leg so I had to look elsewhere. I was trying to avoid Waikiki/Honolulu at all cost because we did not want to be in the city. We came to Hawaii to get away from it all and enjoy the island, the people, and the culture. Although Waikiki did have some cheap alternatives the hotels and locations weren't as nice and the reviews weren't as great. We wanted to stay on the remote "paradise" side of the island and then, BINGO!!... I struck gold when I stumbled across the North Shore Marriot. It was PERFECT!! Great price, modern amenities, great staff, clean rooms, and the property, pool, and jacuzzi were all well maintained. Additionally, all the best beaches, shops, street vendors, restaurants, and activities were within short drives of each other. Overall, we stayed for a total of 9 days in Oahu, but had I known about this location and the great price from the start we could have easily extended our vacation and stayed for a total of 14 DAYS!!!!!!!! That would have been awesome!! I am definitely coming back and recommending this hotel to anyone and everyone. Aloha and Mahalo!

"Expeceted Disney experience"
The resort is beautiful , reminded me of the Polynesian resort in Orlando. The service is exemplary at every level, from check-in & luggage delivery to the daily housekeeping and lifeguards at the pool. I originally reserved a 2 queen standard room because both Expedia & Aulani's own web page stated no villas were available. I was able to be upgraded to a villa on check-in. I highly recommend staying in a 1-BDR villa: eating out every meal gets expensive and the full kitchen in the villa allowed our family to eat a healthier breakfast every morning. It was also nice to have access to a washing machine/dryer for laundry. The resort is extremely crowded, most noticeable in wait times to check-in and lines for the water slides at the pool. There is a small shopping area across the street with an ABC Store for souvenirs, restaurant, clothing boutique, ice cream shop, etc. The resort area of Ko Alina is about 30 minutes away from Waikiki with no traffic and much less crowded.

"It's OK."
It's fine if you are transiting or there for a short stay. A little run down but acceptable. Restaurant is good when it's open. If not there are restaurants within walking distance.

"Meets minimum requirements for a decent hotel"
Parking was free but filled up each night; out of 4 nights there, I only got to park in the hotel lot 1 night (other nights I had to park on the street). Restaurant and lounge onsite.

I booked the Ala Moana suite for the fist part of my stay and a standard room for the latter part. As I was an Expedia Gold Member, the hotel upgraded me to the suite for my entire stay which was great. The hotel staff were very friendly. The two things I would say could improve is the condition of the room and the room cleanliness. The room is a bit old and could be updated (but still generally comfortable). The room was quite clean at the beginning of my stay, but I found that the daily cleaning wasn't thorough enough. While the cleaners changed the towels and replaced toiletries daily, I don't think they thoroughly cleaned the bathroom (such as washing the shower) the whole week I was there.

Stayed here in September for 5 nights. Nice hotel and location, very modern and clean! Close to Waikiki, without the hustle and bustle, very well kept and a gem in Waikiki, can't wait to go back!

very friendly staff and very helpful. Ate dinner down by the golf course, was ok. Big pool was cold, but there was a very strong wind that day. Went in the smaller pool and it was nice.

"Fun with 7 year olds"
Auntie's beach house is great to drop off the kids and for some adult alone time. Kids need to be potty trained and between 3-12 (?) Transportation to the resort was frustrating, I would suggest taking a cab instead of waiting for the booked shuttle. I really enjoyed our family time on the beach and loved the free Boogie Board use as well as sand toys for the kids. The water slides were fun as well as the lazy river. We went in Oct. so it wasn't too crowded. I heard Feb. is also a good time to visit. Food was not impressive and way too expensive at the on site restaurants. We went across the street to eat and LOVED the ice cream at Two Scoops and the ABC store for daily essentials like cereal, beverages, and snacks. Our room was cozy, but comfortable. I LOVED the shower and the mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, and toaster.
