First time at a Four Seasons. The room was very nice. Very well designed, nice materials and space distribution. Exceptional bed and bed linen (I'm thinking of buying their linen or beds because they do sell it too now). Best bed I've slept on. Period.
One thing that I was somewhat thrown off by was the pricing at the restaurants in the property. I mean, the first night I just came from the airport, went to have fish at Mina's, and I ate an entree and a dessert (with wine glasses), and I paid about $140 (plus tip). It wasn't worth it. The breakfast buffet was good but was also probably a bit overpriced again (it was $49). Same for in-room dining. In this environment I tried to just reason about time spent and a few times I did order from the restaurants at the property, but otherwise I went to explore the gastronomy outside, specially poke. Ko Olina is mostly a resort town, so venture outside for food. It's very nice to be in though. I enjoyed staying here.
I drove here. I got a rental at the airport. Valets were nice. At the same time, I wasn't use to tipping culture and I had to come to grips with it. In the property you can feel that it is somewhat expected. I actually did call them to ask and they never said "you're not expected", but they said "give whatever you're comfortable with". I was frankly annoyed with this reality, but I did the math and reframe it, and then I started tipping them. In the grand scheme of things it's not a big expense, and I ended up liking it.
