This was our third stay at the Hundred Stay Hotel. We have really enjoyed our stays in the past, and have found it to be a great option for families that need more space and kitchen facilities. They have various apartment-style options depending on how many beds you need. And some amenities like in-room washer & dryer are really appreciated.
This time our stay was a little less enjoyable -- I think the management company or owner has changed since we last stayed there in 2017. We found the new look & feel, as well as the service, of the place a bit less inviting and more impersonal. The service is still very good, but just feels less friendly and personal. The new decor is rather dark (especially the hallways), and furnishings in the rooms seemed a little worn. And they were not able to put our two rooms close together (not on the same floor). Most of the clientele seem to be from other Asian countries.
However, overall, we still like this hotel -- it is very close to the center of Shinjuku, convenient to both subway and JR rail lines, and has many shops and restaurants just steps away (it is next to Korea Town, which has great diversity of cuisines and terrific yaki-niku places). The more spacious rooms are even more appreciated now that our "kids" are all young adults, and the amenities (washer/dryer, kitchen, small fitness room) are great. Unfortunately, their cafe is closed, but there is a small grocery right around the corner.
