"The property is very nice and had no problems with staff. They were very nice and helpful. However, for those looking to access public transportation this hotel is not for you. I didn’t realize how far away this hotel was from bus stops or train stations when booking and found myself kind of stranded (I tried to walk to the bus stop 20minutes away and the streets immediately around the hotel are not designed for pedestrians). Have to use taxi to get to station. So if you have a car or other...

"Beautiful views of Mount Fuji from s"

Wakakusa no Yado Maruei Ryokan

10/10 Excellent

"I loved every minute of my stay. Amazing place, beautiful views and very kind staff. I was so happy that the dinner was served in my room, such a unique experience. Special thanks to Kubota who served our dinner and was so very kind to explain every dish for us. You're the best! Can't wait to comeback!"

Kasuitei Ohya

10/10 Excellent

"When I was looking for a place to stay in Fuji I knew I wanted the authentic Japenese ryokan experience and this was definitely exceeded expectations. The room was extremely clean with practical features, such as air conditioning, air humidifier, extra toiletries and bedding. We had a view of the lake and it was beautiful. If you stay, I highly recommend doing the half board, where breakfast and dinner is included! It was so cool to have your room flipped around to a dining experience. We also used the onsen- both private and public. Very cool to try, everything that is offered felt clean and unique if you’ve never been before. The location was also ideal, being near the lake and a ton of local landmarks. This stay is by a lot of bike rentals- recommend doing this as well if you stay! Kasuitei Ooya also felt very modern even though its been there for decades! Highly recommend in comparison to other stays in the area :)"

Lakeland Hotel Mizunosato

10/10 Excellent

"Roof top Fuji view is great. Kimono offering and public bath is wonderful. Has some difficulty to find out about transportation nearby. Lack of clear information. Hotel shuttle has no other stops. Made it difficult to get around the areas other than calling uber. Food are good but do not know what is on the menu. Overall very good experience"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Nagasawa?

The best area to stay in Nagasawa is around Lake Kawaguchiko, particularly the northern and eastern shores.

The northern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko offers stunning, unobstructed views of Mount Fuji, especially from the area around the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum and the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. This area is known for its high-quality ryokans (traditional Japanese inns) and hotels, many of which feature private onsen baths with lake and mountain views. It's generally a more spread-out area, ideal for those seeking tranquility and scenic beauty.

Couples often find the northern shore particularly appealing for a romantic getaway. The serene setting, combined with the opportunity to relax in a private onsen while gazing at Mount Fuji, creates a memorable experience. There are also several small, intimate restaurants and cafes dotted along this shore.

The eastern shore, closer to Kawaguchiko Station, is more convenient for travellers arriving by public transport. This area has a greater concentration of shops, restaurants, and hotels, making it a good base for exploring the wider region. The Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Boat and the Arakurayama Sengen Park (famous for its pagoda and Fuji views) are easily accessible from here.

Families might prefer the eastern shore due to its accessibility and proximity to amenities and attractions.

When is the best time to go to Nagasawa?

The best time to visit Nagasawa is during the spring (April to May) for cherry blossoms or autumn (October to November) for stunning foliage.

Spring offers mild weather, making it pleasant for exploring the region's natural beauty. The cherry blossoms, known as sakura, create picturesque landscapes, particularly around Lake Kawaguchiko and the Chureito Pagoda, offering iconic views of Mount Fuji. This period is superb for couples seeking a romantic getaway with beautiful scenery.

Autumn brings cooler temperatures and a spectacular display of vibrant red, orange, and gold leaves. The Momiji Corridor near Lake Kawaguchiko is a particularly popular spot for viewing the autumn colours.
