The kitchen is supposed to be open all day 24hours, but while we were cooking she rudely asked us “how much longer”, she made very loud noises as if she was upset with us, she sprayed cleaning solution on the counter and on our food, and she blocked the kitchen entrance. Also the walls between the rooms are very thin, you can hear everything very loud and clear. We had loud neighbors and it was hard to sleep many nights. We stayed at a few establishments in Japan and my son proclaimed that it's his favourite. The view of Mt Fuji from the roof top was amazing! My kids really enjoyed going up there. The room was clean and sleeping on the futons was a great experience. The bathrooms were also very clean considering that they were shared. The staff were very friendly and helpful; they recommended dining options and helped us to call a few car rental companies. There is a small seafood shop nearby where we bought fresh sashimi from and they also had oysters for a steal! Really regret not having more... on the whole, it was a wonderful experience. I had some trouble with the laundry machines in which the dryers weren't working but the staff had fixed the problem the next morning and allowed me to dry my things before checking out. The surrounding area is residential so no restaurants or shopping nearby other than the conbini; most of your shopping and dining is closer to the station. The hostel is a bit of a far walk from the station if you've got luggage but the hostel can arrange a taxi for you if you don't want to walk.
