Clean and comfortable

Generally V good Staff V helpful and friendly and English speaking. Breakfast staff new so a little chaotic but helpful

Park where?

Lack of parking locally is an issue. Otherwise a good location, very handy for the centre

Dear James, Thank you for your comment, we are please to see that you enjoyed our location in the city, as for the parking, we do have few garage available at 7€ per night or parking spot at the Commercial Center La Caserne de Bonne at 3€ from 5h30pm to 10h00am, otherwise you must park in he street and it's not always easy I'm agree. Nice staff not so nice hotel

The staff was kind and helpful but the room is beyond tiny and the halls are really dark and scary. The hotel is near the tram but nothing else worth doing really.

We have different type of room, from the economy which is the smallest to the Privilege room which is bigger as for the bed size to the surface and the comfort. Okay... for what it is.

Great location, not so great inside the hallways (got a bit scared frankly, they're really run down). Shower was the typical skinny European tub, but no hanging shower head. Odd. Could hear other guests every time they used the bathroom. Room clean, bed decent, only one usable plug (in a tight corner) , no means to have tea. Staff were helpful, even with the bizarre policy of having to leave my room key at the front desk every time I left the hotel. Doubtful I'd stay here again, but it worked for one night.

Small, pleasant historic hotel.

Pros: I liked that is was such a small place - a bit idiosyncratic - and rich with historical flavor.
Location: It is right by their light rail system - which is very easy to use - and compared to most US systems - theirs is very appealing.
I stayed here while visiting my son who was taking his semester abroad in Grenoble. It's a very convenient location - right next to the light rail system. The room was - as expected - quite small - but just fine. The staff was helpful and genial. And while I was at the Museum of the French Resistance (highly recommended) - I learned that this hotel had been used as a headquarters by both Nazis and Italian commanders during the occupation. I assume those guys could have stayed any place they wanted - and they picked the Gambetta. They offer parking in their private garage - but it is very very tight quarters - and my rental car was mid sized - so it was harder than solving a Rubic's cube puzzle and very time consuming to maneuver my car in and out. If you have a big car - look for another solution.

Great hotel - reception help is left to be desired

The hotel it's self is great, well located easy to get to by taxi from the train station around €10, ordering a taxi from the hotel to the airport the next morning was an insanely tedious task, no quote no understanding just time and book, and it took me 20 minutes for reception to understand what I wanted, its around €100 to the airport but the shuttle times are so awkward it seemed worth it.
