Loved- The calm, homely and cosy atmosphere. The staff are really lovely, and make you gorgeous herbal tea and great coffee. They are very knowledgeable about the area. Met great people from all over the world at breakfast. Every alternate breakfast was a big meal, eggs, toast & sweet potato for example plus yogurt & fruit (on the other days there pancakes/waffles and yoghurt with fruit). They are quick to give you wonderful coffee on arrival at the breakfast table. It's within walking distance of Pearl Street, public transport to the airport and hiking, mall, cafes, restaurants etc.
Didn't love -
Bring ear plugs & eyemask. Sound really carries so you can hear the loud voices from the kitchen, doors, driers, walking around etc. The floorboards and bed are really creaky too. You have to wake up before 7.30am because the kitchen and breakfast table is bustling! The $25 surcharge for having my husband stay instead of just me seemed steep especially as the room was very small for 2 people.
