Airport (TQO) 9/10 Wonderful! (619 reviews) This hotel was a beautiful, quiet oasis. The staff was wonderful, our bed was super comfortable and it felt more like a private condo than a hotel. If the big, all-inclusive hotels are too touristy for you, this could be a great choice. We felt very safe here, the hotel is on a private road with a guard shack so limited traffic and easy to walk along daily. There's a beautiful cenote just a few minutes walk away. Keep in mind, being outside the main hotel zone food options are limited to a few hotels unless you have a car to drive into town or to the hotel zone - so we recommend renting a car or scooter. We would also highly recommend finding the Mexican cooking from scratch class in a private Tulum home - it was a great experience. (173 reviews) This is our second stay at an El Dorado Resort and we will definitely be going back. One year ago we stayed at the El Dorado Royale, and that property had three resorts on it - beautiful, but a lot of walking. The El Dorado Maroma had a much better beach, but the property with the Royale and the Casitas had more pools. We enjoyed that this resort was smaller and had less people, but still had all the great restaurants, entertaining shows, and the staff went out of their way to get us whatever we needed. We had a wedding ceremony on the beach in Maroma, and it was beautiful! Everything was perfect - this was our favorite vacation spot yet! (1,005 reviews) First of all, the staff was amazing, not one single rude person on the resort. Special thank you to all the staff at the La Caretta, for some reason I cannot leave their names per Expedia... but the entire staff was so great. Wonderful, loving staff, took very good care of us. The ladies at the Royal check in, I failed to get their names, but I hope they are recognized as they made the check in so smooth and so sweet. Now about the resort. This resort was fabulous. the accommodations were fabulous, all the food was really good, Pools and beach is outstanding. Wish the Mexican food was more authentic, but the staff, wonderful. Seafood restaurant was good as was the Mediterranean. We just had a wonderful time and high recommend this resort. The staff is always friendly, the food is good, great ocean access for snorkeling or a shore dive and the rooms are always clean. It's only about a 15 minute walk to downtown and if you want to rent a scooter or book an excursion, there is always someone there to help you. I would definitely recommend.
