It isn't 5 Star in regards to perfect everything. It is 5 stars in the way that this is a cabin feel with a wonderful view. The area is quiet and tucked away but still with in 30 minutes of the Bainbridge ferry, casinos, Downtown Poulsbo and on and on. We arrived really late in the evening on our check in date with no trouble getting in. The next morning we were surprised with an incredible view of the Hood Canal and Mount Olympus that was totally undersold in the property description. Our stay was overall okay, there were several issues that we had while we were there but the property management company was pretty responsive to the issues we had and did what they could to fix them. ##### Marley R. It’s got a beautiful view, and the cabin itself is woodsy and cute, with a great deck and yard area perfect for dogs (albeit a clearly pressure washed wood deck that needs to be sanded - sliver mayhem.)We got there and the house was freezing. It’s clear that the 2 space heaters they have in the main area are supposed to be the main source of heat - and a couple in the bedroom closets - but none were going when we arrived. Took hours to warm up, and then we don’t keep them on when we sleep because of safety. We were cold most of the stay when present. It wasn’t the cleanest. Hairs on the wall of the bathroom that weren’t ours, and what we think was mold on the corner of the bedroom floor. Otherwise, just dirt/grime around the edges of things.Bring your own pillows. I can’t stress enough the gorgeous view, and wonderful grass yard out front, but unfortunately with all these other issues mentioned (mostly the mold.), we wouldn’t stay here again unless the listing made clear it was fixed. NO LIGHTING at all....almost drove off the the parking area that sits higher up than the rental. While trying to the entry,, i fell down the steps that were listed in the description of the rental , this was due to the no lighting. I had to use my camera flashlight just to see the codes on the entry pad. The house was icecold when i arrived. I turned on the heating along withthe propane stove. It blew out the circut breaker in the master bedroom and i had to sleep in the guest room. The kitchen and bathroom were clean. The sheets were clean. The rugs are filthy along with the carpets. There areothwr homes all around and no privacy, including the owners unit that is on the property which the listing goes state either. There are not enough window coverings for privacy in this cabin either. Everyone could look right in. I left the next morning and never came back. We loved sitting outside watching the sun go down at night and the private fenced yard was perfect for my grandson It was very well stocked with everything we needed and had a lot of toys for our 3 year old. We felt comfortable and at home. The view was amazing. The location, the amenities, were all just right. I had to pry my wife off the couch on our checkout day. We were super comfortable, but it is a cabin and not a home. Expect some minor things, such as needing to run a space heater in the main room. Bedrooms have baseboard heaters and thermostats which work well. The kitchen is basic, but on par with other rentals we've stayed at. Appliances all worked well. You won't run short on linens or basics - they supply you well. Hot water was never an issue (always a concern in the mornings with a teenager).If the weather had been nicer, I don't know that I would have left the deck. I spent my mornings out there with my coffee enjoying the canal and the mountains. We didn't try the two supplied grills (charcoal and propane) this trip, but I considered using them. Outside spaces were beautiful and well-maintained.It does share a property with the owners (whom we never saw). Parking was good for us, but would be tight for 2 cars. The driveway is shared with the owners. The cabin is down a few steps from the parking. Walmart is 10 minutes away if you need something. Poulsbo is a fantastic little town with great restaurants and charms I did not expect. Problems closing and opening doors (house seems to be settling). Got trapped in Master Bedroom twice because latch would not turn - door was stuck. We were able to open bedroom windows for ventilation, but the window screens and sills were very dirty. Kitchen light above sink is wired in violation of the electrical code, and does not work consistently. My grandson (60 lbs) who was visiting for the day sat on a dining room chair and fell through the caned bottom (I have a photo). There was a pillow on each of the four chairs covering the cane, and the cane on this chair had a hole across the entire seat. He was not hurt. Could have used a few more forks (there were only 4). Cleaning not finished. Vacuuming not finished and carpet disgusting in bedroom. Tons of spots and cigarette burns. People have smoked in this house, the house smelled. I have asthma this was not good. Coffee maker broken and disgusting. Had to buy a new one. TV doesn’t work, not even local channels. No directions as to how things worked. No fans very warm in afternoon and evening. No comfortable chairs to sit on only a couch. No water access. Great view and that is about it! Felt that we were deceived by advertising. ##### Peggy I. Nov 30, 2021 #### Rough Start to a Thanksgiving Weekend Pros: Beautiful View, Comfortable bed, well equipped, outdoor deck is nice, mud room is good, quiet peaceful location. Most important pro: concerns to the major issues I had below were addressed and/or resolved by the District/General Manager of the area. Which gives this property a 3 star, instead of a 1\. Cons: access was confusing, took a minute to find the keypad as the accessibility was not explained. Arrived to an unclean property. Had to spend the first night cleaning and doing laundry. Sep 12, 2021 Liked: Check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### It really is all about the view! The view is stunning, the cabin has a certain funky charm. It could benefit from a little more attention to cleaning (windows, dusting) and details like replacing burned out bulbs, but overall it was fine. Don't forget to bring binoculars! We spent a lot of time on the deck and saw eagles, herons, a playful sea lion, the dorsal fins of pair of porpoises, and even a submarine. As other reviewers have mentioned, the bed frame makes a terrible creaking noise, so if you're light sleeper the noise will wake you. The kitchen is adequately equipped, but I would recommend bringing a non-stick skillet as the one there is unusable. No instructions on how to use the gas fireplace, so hopefully the host will remedy that before the weather gets too cold! ##### Alison A. The new deck is spacious and solid, and, although we did not need it, the fenced yard is perfect for pets and kids. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. The main bedroom has lots of storage space and the bed was very comfortable. The steps down into the bedroom were ok for us but would make it difficult for folks with mobility issues. My husband was handy enough to get the gas fireplace going, which was the only source of heat in the living/dining room. It was cold out and so it was difficult to stay warm at times. There were instructions to start a load of towels before leaving, but there was no laundry detergent. It was a lovely stay and we would love to come back in warmer weather. ##### Mary F.
