The booking photos are deceiving. The place is much more run down. Maybe because its up for sale. There were 3 of us and only 2 blankets. There was no bedding for the pull out sofa. Which when we took the cushions off was full of crumbs and cheerios. Dust webs and cob webs and spiders were super creepy. Opened the bedroom curtains to find a big ol Pepsi vending machine! What a great view. The room was clean. Thank you. It did look like a new effort is underway as there was a good window airconditioner and new looking TV and internet hook up. The unit is in bad need of updating. The room smelled of air freshener and the windows don't open. There were no screens. The bed would be fine but seemed to have a plastic mattress cover on it and was uncomfortable that way. The wires for the TV and internet were just closed in the closet door with exposed plumbing shut off valves that looked fragile. The kitchen sink is chipped. The windows were filthy on the outside. weather stripping on the door is torn and lost its shape, there is a power strip nailed to the wall at head level to plug in a microwave on the shelf. There is no bed side lamp. The dock is missing planks and lawn was not mowed. It has a great location and the room size, while small could have worked. The outdatedness, and condition of the room with cracked walls, missing molding etc just needs attention. The deal breaker was the smell and the plastic on the mattress. It was self check in, I was assured when speaking to someone on Thursday there would be towels, shampoo, soap,etc. the shampoo and soap dispensers were bone dry. We were the only guests there, it looked like it wasn’t even open. The towels were threadbare, we had one roll of toilet paper. The exterior lock looked didn’t have a deadbolt and the door barely shut. There was an old wreck of a camper parked in front, and the blind on the window was broken. It wouldn’t go down. Property was very dated and dirty. The bathroom was filthy and smelt like urine and there was mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and cabinets. I would not recommend this property. Older cabin but clean and cozy. if you want a 5 star this is not it. If you want your moneys worth this is the place. I liked it a bunch, owners communicated check in via phone the night before and everything was set. It was decorated nicely, and had a comfortable campy vibe. Appliances were all clean and in good working condition, bed linens were clean also. We only used one bedroom, the cabin had two. The mattress on the bed was older and a little too firm, but that's a personal preference thing - we still slept just fine. We had no real concerns with the cabin at all. The property sits on the shore of Black Lake. It has 3 docks, which we enjoyed fishing off of. There's plenty of room for boats as well for people who have them. The only negative I really have is the price point. We really needed somewhere in the area so we could visit with our daughter, who lives in Alexandria Bay. Because it was Labor Day weekend, everything in ABay was full, we saw this on Orbitz, and took it. The price advertised was fine, but because we were 2 people, not 1, there was a $100 per night charge for an extra person. I have not encountered this situation before when traveling as a couple and bringing no additional family members. We still stayed and found the Lakeside Lodge to be a decent place, but this policy will probably discourage us from staying in the future. ##### Denise Séjour de 2 nuits en septembre 2022 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Christel Voyage en famille 2 août 2022 Points forts : Propreté The cabin was clean. In order to talk to anyone, you had to leave a message and they would usually get back to you within a couple of hours. Although this trip started off a little rocky on arrival, the owner was very helpful, friendly and accommodating once we were able to inform him and his daughter of the issues we had. They even upgraded us for no extra charge to another one of their properties to ensure we were happy with our experience at their properties! Great people and great customer service, with amazing views!
