Relax in the open great room overlooking a forest of pines. Take the bikes out for a spin on Sunriver's 37 miles of trails. Or spoil yourself with a circuit-therapy massage in the brand new Caldera spa. This wonderfully appointed lodge-style home offers 1,750 square feet of living space and delightful outdoor decks on two levels. Its three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms comfortably accommodate eight guests. The vaulted entryway leads into the open great room with cedar cathedral ceilings, stone fireplace, and wall-to-wall windows affording stunning views of serene nature. Curl up in a comfy chair by the fire to unwind here after a day of skiing, kayaking, or biking. The great room opens to the spacious dining room and kitchen, complete with a dining table with leaf that seats eight comfortably. The large and well-appointed kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances and marble counter tops. You’ll find the cabinets fully stocked with all the cookery and utensils you need, whether you’re preparing a simple breakfast or a gourmet dinner. From the great room, step outside to relax with a favorite book on one of the Adirondack chairs on the upper deck, where you can also enjoy year-round grilling under cover and al fresco dining around a teak-wood table for six. Descend the back stairs to the large lower deck to relax on the chaise lounges in the shade of the ponderosa pines. Downstairs you’ll find sleeping arrangements for up to four adults and four kids, or alternatively six adults. There's a master bedroom suite with a king bed, a second bedroom with a queen bed and library, and a third bedroom with a twin-over-full bunk, with an additional trundle twin bed and a media center. There are two full bath rooms downstairs, and a half bath upstairs. Cherry floors extend throughout the upper level, and slate floors in the entry and lower level. The home is loaded with conveniences to make your vacation enjoyable: air conditioning, mesh wi-fi, two large-screen TVs, two Apple TVs, 80 channels of live TV, hi-fi stereo with smart-device connection, Wii game console with library of games, A/C, Weber grill, eight bicycles, four sleds, and a ping-pong table. Chalet Sarlat is conveniently located at 10 Red Cedar Lane, on a quiet cul-de-sac in the center of Sunriver, close to the Woodlands Golf Course, the North Tennis Courts, and the North Pool. I believe we counted 16 bikes available, to suit any ability and preference. The rooms were all very nice and clean. The only "hiccup" we had was that we ran out of propane on the first night. There were two bbq grills, so that was fine, but our dinner plans were a little messed up due to the timing of this. But, we were able to work around it. The house was well-stocked and it was nice having the separation of bedrooms from the rest of the house after the kids went to bed. Tom was also a very responsive host. (Thank you!) We enjoyed our stayat Sunriver (the brewery and pool were true highlights) and, even during shoulder season, found a lot of great activities to explore: High Desert Museum, Smith Rock, Bend, etc. ##### Dulcey R. A short bike ride to Fort Rock Park, we were able to enjoy all that Sunriver had to offer. The deck was HUGE! Never felt cramped in any part of the house. I've slept on more comfortable beds in my life, but were manageable. The hot tub may have been the nicest one I've ever used at a rental property and it was pristinely clean. The AC worked like a charm. There were plenty of bikes and adjoining locks for the whole family. As someone who grills, I do wish the BBQ was a little larger, but not a deal breaker by any means. Communication with the owner was prompt and very helpful. Would definitely consider staying here again! ##### Peter S. It was comfortable and cozy with a well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. There was a very thoughtful bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival too. We loved soaking in the hot tub after a day's skiing - even more than usual given the colder than usual weather. Our kids are 10 and 13 and there was plenty of space for each of us to have some me-time, as well as a nice open living area for us to come together to eat meals, watch tv, and play games (there was a full cupboard of games!). As it was so cold during our stay, we had to add blankets to the bed in the master bedroom; we also noticed that the forced air heating is a little loud in one of the bedrooms, but it didn't cause us any issues. We didn't get the door code through Vrbo as expected, but Tom was very quick to respond to my message in the app so we checked in without a hitch. From the gifted bottle of wine when you walk-in to the fancy soap that makes your hair tingle in the showers. Nobody’s perfect & owner wasn’t aware that the hot tub key didn’t fit the lock, there was one duraflame log for fireplace, & the VRBO app didn’t easily provide the code for entry. If you are looking for a super clean, fully stocked , quiet location...book it now! The 2nd level patio was our favorite place to start our day with coffee and a good book. Cooking was made for easy as it had everything you need. The bed we slept in (master) was very comfortable. Loved the two decks and the table on the upper deck for eating. I cannot think of one thing we did not like. If you want to be close/walking/biking to Village, pool, park this is not the house for you. We enjoyed using the hot tub and BBQ and playing in the snow with kids. Only complaints is that the second bedroom double bed mattress was really firm and uncomfortable and squeaky and the tub drain and shower apparatus wasn’t working so couldn’t fill tub and ended up having to shower our two little ones. ##### Michelle M. Adequate for 4 adults. Nice beds and furniture. Stocked well with dishes and utensils. Don’t expect the basics like salt and pepper though. Guest info book is way outdated. 7 remotes in drawer for tv and “ other” devices and do not work according to information booklet. Upon arrival I was pleased to be out of town with high expectations for SR based on many previous visits. Snow on the ground and more coming was cause for a relaxing time with a fire. BUT, be prepared to go buy your own firewood and fill up the wood box for the PM won’t. Was told firewood was 6 ft off deck, yep, downstairs and covered in snow and soaking wet, won’t burn. A nice wood box right out the door upstairs but not even a complimentary bundle of dry firewood. Hot tub is nice BUT, a day before check out it was drained and refilled and was too cold to use and, it was subsequently locked up. Hot tub, fireplace with wood, and ease were priority for me. Each of these fell way below SunRiver expectations. My summary is that the owner takes great pride in the property and wants you to treat it tenderly, fine and certainly understand. However, the same was not returned to the care of this guest with just bare essentials you get other places. We enjoyed our stay for SR is more than a house. It is the touches of customer service that can make or break a review. Customer service here was severely lacking for a winter time stay.
