"This place is absolutely charming. Waimea town is set in lush green cinder cones with cool tradewind breeze. So Hawaiian pastoral, the building is just one story like an old time motel. The room has mini kitchenette and comfortable beds. We enjoyed staying here. "

"I arrived a little late due to car rental events. It was so nice of them to call to see if I was ok and still coming. I had been in Kukuihaele a couple of other times. Buzz met me when I arrived. He is very nice and showed me the place next to his shop which he never used while I was there. After a day I fell in love with the simple peaceful place with a wonderful view of nature. The little outdoor covered kitchen had all I needed. Best of all was sitting out there and eating all my meals and just sitting. Birds galore singing all day! And croaky frogs that sound like birds at night. Buzz keeps the grass mowed beautifully around the house and the field of fruit. I walked barefoot through the field to visit a neighbor. It was a special time. People are friendly. Waimea is close by and superb farmers markets! I had a wonderful time and have really fond memories staying in Kukuihaele. There are tangerine, few orange trees, bananas, guava (yum) coconuts, gardenias, gorgeous hibiscus 🌺…. Every morning I had a fruit salad. I walked every day to the Waipio Lookout. It’s a walk through the neighborhood. Everything is so green. You get to see and be a part of rural Hawaii and not crowded tourist places. Honokaa is the little town 9 miles away. It’s an old sugar cane town and really charming and full of nice people who live in the area and sweet shops and cafes. Love it! Hilo is a gorgeous drive and a great older town to visit too. Lots to do there."

"We have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands now for about 5 years. This home met all expectations and more. The owners are responsive to requests and comments and obviously take pride in their house The beds are very comfortable, the home was very clean, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for cooking, you can eat at the island or sit in the formal dinning room that sits 8 people, the bathrooms are large and spacious, the covered patio is a great place to sit on to enjoy the beauty of the landscape around you or to watch the stars at night. Waking up to the sounds of the birds singing is a great start to your day. I could go on and on about how great this place is. You can't go wrong. You do need a car, however, the home is located minutes from some of the nicest sandy beach’s on the Island Spencer Beach, Hapuna Beach, Beach 67, Beach 69, wonderful farmers markets in Waimea, Waikoloa (A beach) and Waikoloa Village. The Ala Khaki National HistoricTrail is a great hike and if you start your Hike at the Spencer Beach Visitor Center you get an idea of the history of the area and an understanding of how the Island began. "Great views - pretty much 360 degrees. We had everything we needed for our trip of exploring the western half of Hawaii island. A 10 minute drive down to the ocean resorts and a 10 minute drive up the mountain to Waimea/Kamuela. Great sunsets!!"
