Het hotel ligt ook aan de rand van het centrum van Venlo met winkelgebied en de oevers van de Maas. Venlo kan ook het startpunt zijn voor wandelingen en fietstochten langs de Maas en in het bosrijke Nederlands-Duitse grensgebied. De kamers van Hotel American zijn netjes en schoon, goed ontbijtbuffet. Het hotelpersoneel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Dezelfde meneer zat er. Hij is in voor een grapje en de sfeer is daar heel relaxt en ongedwongen. Fijn hotel. Voorzieningen zijn soms een beetje retro, maar alles is netjes en schoon, daar gaat t om. Ik had stil ingevuld maar dat is niet helemaal waar. Vloer kraakt. Toch wel gehorig, maar ben gelukkig ook vroeg wakker. Verder prima hotel. Ontbijt is altijd goed verzorgd en wordt naar eur 7,50 voor gevraagd, erg nette prijs.
