We finally made the trip and have just had the most magical stay at this very special hotel. Zamas is in a beautiful location with uninterrupted views of the beach and ocean. It is just as we remembered it with unique and very well appointed rooms that have everything you might need : great shower, very comfortable bed, pillows and cotton sheets, a tea station, fridge, bottled water, and wonderfully fragrant bathroom products. We ate at the restaurant every night and had one memorable meal after another, as we enjoyed the magnificent view. The managers and staff were so friendly and helpful and generously upgraded our accommodation to an ocean view room, where we could relax in the hammocks with the sound of gently lapping waves and soft ocean breezes. The cozy hammocks outside our door, to which room service will deliver tacos, were icing on the cake. Zamas Hotel is an absolute GEM! We wanted to be more in the community rather than in a big all-inclusive and Zamas was perfect! The staff was so friendly and helpful, our room was right on the beach and the food was PHENOMINAL! It was conveniently located in a moderately busy part of town so it was quiet at night and only a 10min drive down to the party section of Tulum. The room was so cute and the hotel did a great job cleaning every day. I was worried about the heat and the AC in the room worked wonderfully. There are convenience stores, pharmacies, ATMs and currency exchange offices within walking distance. We booked a beach bungalow that was super clean and comfortable, making it the perfect spot to relax. Fernando at the reception went above and beyond—he was not only kind and helpful but also made the kids feel so special by bringing them toys for the sand and making sure we had everything we needed. The staff overall were extremely friendly with the kids, which made us feel right at home. The on-site restaurant was delicious with excellent pricing—we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there. The pool was also very nice and refreshing. While there was a bit of seaweed on the beach during our stay, we understand that it’s just part of the season and nature. What truly stood out was the level of care and hospitality: every time we needed to cross the road, the hotel’s parking attendant made sure to stop traffic and personally help us cross safely with the kids. They were also very helpful with our luggage and attentive in every detail. Overall, Zamas Hotel gave us a warm, family-friendly, and memorable getaway. We stayed at the Zamas Hotel for 3 nights and we could not have been more happy! The location is spectacular, right on the beach in a quiet yet central area. The food and bar service was consistently awesome. Our room was a perfect mix of rustic and comfortable. Most importantly, the staff were extremely helpful and great to converse with. They assisted us with transportation and answered all of our numerous questions. Abi, Daniel, Fernando, and Iliana in particular were just so fantastic and so super helpful. The room: We had a cabana on the beach which we reserved for a great deal at the time, maybe $150 a night. Great for the price, would not pay above that for this room as it was bare bones, tiny, no A/C, no dresser, no chairs, no hooks to hang towels or wet clothes (you know, things you pay extra for). You really don't need those things in Tulum anyway so we were completely content, just wouldn't go back if the price were higher. We could hear traffic from the street but it wasn't bothersome and never woke us, I imagine the rooms closer to the street would be obnoxious noise wise. Either way, bring earplugs. The birds start screaming at dawn (not bad because sunrise in Tulum is beautiful). Restaurant: Good food, we ate most meals here as we were too lazy to head out (aside from Chencho's down the street which is great affordable, authentic food). Their restaurant offers enough variety so you can eat there multiple times without getting bored. They do have rotating chef's though so I can only hope they're all great. They also had live bands or DJ's every night until 10:00 so you could easily make dinner last hours if you felt like lounging. Also, breakfast overlooking the ocean was an amazing way to wake up every morning. Beach: Water was beautiful, occasional waves but not overwhelming. Unfortunately, there were some random rocks out in the water that we kept hitting our toes on. I didn't encounter the rock issue at other beaches in Tulum but that may just be coincidence. There were plenty of palapas to go around, I rarely saw people having to lay directly on the sand. Tip: Ask the front desk for a cooler and some ice so you can BYOB to the beach! Would def stay here again, but will be looking for other hotels on our next trip just to see what else is out there. If you're looking to be pampered, this is not your hotel.
