We moved to this hotel after enjoying 6 nights in an excellent hotel in Sanur. As the Stones was priced higher and has the Marriott name, we had certain expectations when we booked for 3 nights. Unfortunately, with this direct comparison, the hotel was quite lacking.
Though we are in a pandemic, we still expected the hotel would maintain a certain level of quality standard for the rooms. Unfortunately this is not the fact.
For one, for our first impression upon entering the room, we were greeted with a moldy-smelled room (that stays for the duration of our stay)... to the point that we needed to spray eucalyptus oil to combat the smell. On another day, not long after the room was cleaned, we got a sour-smelled room as an added bonus.
Then, the room came with a nice and unique balcony with tub, unfortunately the water for the tub was less than lukewarm.
We also suspected the air condition has not been serviced for awhile, as the temperature was not stable and the air circulation was lacking.
Then there were the small things, like a nice big screen tv, but unfortunately the contents were limited and in low definition. In short, many details that usually delighted us when we booked a 5 star hotels were non-existence or sadly lacking.
Should there be no direct comparison, maybe many of these things could be blamed to the pandemic. But unfortunately we now know better and you can get better value elsewhere.
