This condo is just a short walk from the world famous Ritz Carlton Hotel, includes two full-size pools, four lighted clay tennis courts, as well as shaded bike and walking paths. The Surf and Racquet Club is a beautifully landscaped, secure, gated community conveniently located in the Summer Beach area on Amelia Island. . The setting is in a lush, coastal, hammock forest with sand dunes directly on the ocean. Much of the tree canopy remains intact. Our condo overlooks 1 of the 2 pools and the pristine sea-oat covered dunes and white sandy beaches. The Master Bedroom has a King Bed with great views of the ocean and balcony access. The master has a TV with cable and a full, private bathroom. The second bedroom has 2 Twin beds, TV with cable, and full private bathroom. The living room includes a sleeper sofa. The dining room can seat 6 at the table and there are 2 additional stools at the kitchen bar. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need. We have a full size washer/dryer available in the condo. Only 40 minutes from Jacksonville airport, Amelia Island has miles of hiking and walking trails through the inland oaks. Oceanfront horseback riding is very popular, too. There are many great golf courses very close by, including one near the Ritz Carlton, just a five-minute walk down the beach or road and others at the Plantation development on the Island. Boating, fishing and all water sports may be found on the island, too. Antiquing in some of Amelia’s antique shops is popular as is strolling in the quaint Victorian downtown area. You will find many fine restaurants there and throughout the Island, as well. A short boat trip will take you to Cumberland Island, famous for it’s wild horses. Also, on Amelia Island is Fort Clinch and is one of the most well-preserved 19th Century Forts in America. There are daily tours, hikes, fishing, and other activities. The clothes washer did not work the whole time. The part needed to fix it took several days to arrive so we had to find a laundromat in town. The dishwasher worked albeit old. Toaster was not working well. The door to the balcony was very difficult to open and close unless you are very strong. A water main broke, so the tennis courts were closed the whole week we were there. The swimming pools were lovely and the beach access was great. When called the property manager, no one answered, and after an 8 Hour drive we sat outside the gate for over 40 minutes until a random guest opened it and let us in. Then as we arrived at the front door, the black lock box where the keys were would not open no matter what we tried, after about 20 minutes of trying the cleaning lady open the door and attempted to open the lock box and get us the keys as well and it took her over 20 minutes. Finally, the property manager answered my call and I advised her what was going on with the box and she replied with “yes, that has been giving us some troubles.” the room was very clean, however, this was the worst condo I’ve ever stayed in. You have to be Hercules to open the sliding glass door, all of the blinds broke the moment you tried to open them, the microwave did not work, the shower only worked if you had it on the hot water, and the lack of communication from the property manager was incredibly frustrating. Additionally , the elevator broke and the door to the stairs had vomit on it and was never cleaned. The location is great and a quick walk to the beach. There is a side view of the ocean and the beds are comfortable. The AC worked great and we were comfortably cool.pools were also good. I have been visiting this beach now for eight years and have to say I will not be staying back in this location. ##### Jamie P. Few light blubs in the unit were out. The master bathroom shower wasn't working at all. Try to contact the owners before check-in and during but no response at all. No communication from owner during stay. Since it's owned privately, the facility office won't be able to help at all. The amount of money is charged wasn't worth the unit. Give me the beach and the sunshine and I am typically happy in any situation!The home when we entered appeared to be exactly as pictured! No smells and carpets in bedrooms appeared clean and kept which i was worried about being at the beach!Everything you need in the kitchen, minus the toaster needs replaced because it burned our bagel every morning on the lowest setting.The towels provided had stains in both bathrooms so we opted to use our beach towels. The facets need an upgrade in both the sinks and the showers in additional to the shower liner being changed in the main bath. The fan in the main bath was also broken and sounded like a fire hazard.Overall it its a beautiful location and we enjoyed our week but the property itself needs some work. ##### Stacy H. The view is beautiful from the bedroom and balcony. The living area was especially comfy and no problem with any electronics. I would only say the tub plumbing in both bathrooms were a little tricky to get shower, or tub to cut off or get proper temp control. The information for the condo was a bit confusing as the emails were different from posted information. Also, the twin beds have plastic covers on them, which we understand are great for kids, but I had two adults staying in there who said they crinkled all night. Overall, it was a beautiful condo really nicely furnished and we totally enjoyed the beach and the amenities and getting a chance to get away for a few days. we would definitely book this condo agai ##### Susan H. The condo needs updated and some basic maintenance (filters need replaced and vents need cleaned), there was a lot of dust and dirt. We did a 30 mile walk for breast cancer over the weekend. two other highlights were visiting the American Beach museum, and the nearby distillery.The condo could use some attention, particularly washing the carpets. Kitchen is small, but stocked with everything you could need for cooking. Host did not answer our questions regarding check out. ##### Jill M. Not great room We bought an air mattress for the guest room because the twin beds were so uncomfortable. They are wrapped in plastic, so very noisy and creepy. The place is desperate for updating, but clean. Great coffee maker, but the wrong filters. Other small details like that. If you are not picky, and want close the beach, you might like it.
