  • Accessibility - 2 floors above street level. No elevator.

    Apartment description - 3 bedroom newly remodeled apartment with one full bathroom and one half bathroom. 1 bedroom is a triple (1 Queen bed, 1 single) and 2 are doubles (with Queen bed). There is a 200 x 150 cm sofa-bed in the living area. Full bathroom with shower, toilet, sink. Half bathroom with toilet, sink. Complete kitchen including 4 burners, microwave oven and full-size refrigerator.

    Location - The apartment is on Akbiyik street, by the Blue Mosque (just over a 100 meters away), in the Sultanahmet neighborhood.

    Transportation - From Ataturk airport this apartment can be reached by metro + tramway or of course by taxi. The apartment is at about 600 metres to the Sultanahmet tramway station.

    Management - We are a small family company. Lauren is from Dallas, TX and Fernando is from Barcelona, Spain. We currently run 16 holiday apartments in Barcelona, 2 furnished homes in Dallas, TX, and 7 holiday apartments in Istanbul. We apply our same high standards in every country.

    We love Istanbul and we hope you will also love to stay in our fourth unit in Sultanahamet and the sixth in this incredible city. Elif and Marco take care of our Istanbul apartments and they will take care of your stay.

    Noise levels - The apartment has double glazing. The location is quiet but there is a loud nightly call to prayer 1 hour before sunrise.

    Occupancy - The apartment is ideally suited for 6 people. It can sleep up to 9.

    Check-in and check-out - The apartment will be ready for you at 16:30 for occupancy. You can drop your bags and get your keys from 12:00 (noon). Our greeter will be at the apartment to greet you and hand you the keys. The check-out time is 11:30am. You can request reserved early check-in or late check-out for a small fee, subject to availability. There is no extra fee for nighttime check-in.

    Extras - Introductory neighborhood tour. Transportation to and from the airport. Groceries on arrival. Price on request.

Un séjour très agréable

L'appartement est idéalement situé pour visiter plusieurs grands lieux touristiques car il est très proche de la basilique Sainte-Sophie, la mosquée bleue, le palais de Topkapı et la citerne-basilique (5 à 10mn à pied). Nous étions quatre dans cet appartement pendant une semaine, et nous étions très au large ; toutefois, avec une seule salle de bains (douche), ce serait moins agréable pour des groupes plus importants. La décoration intérieure est agréable et n'est pas impersonnelle comme dans de nombreux appartements modernes. Les lits et linges de maison étaient impeccablement propres. La cuisine était raisonnablement propre, mais sans plus. J'ai dû tuer un cafard près de l'évier. Ce n'est pas très agréable mais il n'est pas forcément facile d'éliminer ce type d'insectes dans de tels appartement anciens. Le retrait de la clé à l'arrivée dans le magasin du rez-de-chaussée qui reste ouvert tard est très pratique, mais j'ai eu quelques sueurs froides dans les jours précédents notre arrivée car je ne recevais pas de réponse à mes messages (sur VRBO) et à mes SMS aux numéros de téléphone indiqués sur le site VRBO. Finalement, c'est par un appel vocal sur un de ces numéros la veille de notre arrivée que j'ai pu avoir confirmation que nous étions bien attendus et du mode de remise des clés. La personne que j'ai eue au téléphone était très aimable. Le jour de notre départ, nous avons pu laisser nos bagages avant de les reprendre plus tard et aller à l'aéroport.

We really enjoyed our stay at 3 Double Bedroom, Right Next to Blue Mosque, on Akbiyik Street. The location was perfect, and the apartment had everything we needed. Communication with the host and with Elif was very good, and they were helpful during our stay. One suggestion would be to provide more photos in advance and to let guests know about the stairs, which would be helpful before arrival. It would also be very useful to include the address or name of the restaurant next door in the check-in instructions, because the entrance is a bit hidden between the shops and restaurant. Our driver had difficulty finding the place until we called Elif, and she kindly sent us a photo of the entrance. Overall, we had a very good stay and would recommend it for the excellent location and helpful communication.

Great location, close to main tourist sites, good restaurants, supermarkets, local very friendly, overall good experience. One main criticism is the stairs we had to go up 2 flights of stairs with 4 children and 6 suitcases not ideal.

Perfect location

Second time in Istanbul, first time in Sultanahmet area. This apartment is the perfect location, multiple choices for restaurants to walk to. All attractions are an easy walk. Multiple mini markets, lots os kitties to love on. Highly recommend this location. We had a great stay. VRBO host communication was great.

The location was terrific right in the heart of some of the major attractions. The property is rather tired and in need of some basic maintenance. The steps to the property are extremely steep and long(42 )steps. Overall I was very happy with the property but as stated the steps are an issue especially with someone with mobility issues. Great apartment in the tourist center

The apartment itself was awesome! 3 bedrooms with 2 toilets is hard to find in any old city center. The price and quality of the apartment are hard to beat. The location was great for the proximity to all the main tourist sites. We also liked having a small grocery shop right under the apartment. We visited the owner at least once a day the entire trip. The only downside is that all the restaurants on the street are very pricey touristy spots. To find some real local restaurants you have to walk away from the area. Overall a good apartment.

Misleading Listing

The description must be from 15 years ago. The pictures, appliance description - all very outdated. Has ant and roach problems. Hole in the floor, have to stand on a rickety chair to reach the dryer. Only real accurate part are it's 3 bedrooms and near the Blue Mosque. Clearly VRBO doesn't keep up on the ads posted. This place is tired and needs basic upgrades just to be safe. For those with medical devices-area is subject to randon power loss - you only are told that after you arrive.

Fantastic location

Elif's apartment is really nice and conveniently located. It is only a five-minute walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace and the tramline 1. The apartement has a fully functional kitchen, two bathrooms and all the kitchenware we need. The 3 bedroom are large and very cozy. Elif was really welcoming and helpful by providing us with an extra bed for the baby. It was a great stay overall and we would definitely recommend it!

The host was lovely and so was the cleaning lady who helped us check in and drop our bags off early. There was air conditioning in every bedroom and in the living room. The only downside was that it was on quite a touristy street which may not be to all travellers' liking, however was quite quiet overnight.

Great location- easy walk to all attractions and the Bosporus River/ferry system. Neighbor restaurant Ottoman Kitchen, were extremely helpful, the young men working there helped two "old" ladies by carrying our luggage up and back down the two long flights of stairs. Amazing stay. Perfect Location

I don't think there could be a better place to stay for a person's first visit to Istanbul. It is in walking distance to all of the major sights to see in Sultanahmet, and there are restaurants and shops at the foot of the stairs. Akbiyik Street, where the apartment is located, is very busy, but since the apartment is on the second floor (third floor U.S.), we were far enough from the noise so as not to be disturbed by it. The windows were great at muffling the noise, and we were never awakened by the call to prayer at around 4:30 am. The apartment itself is clean and well--organized, with plenty of space to be comfortable. I cannot comment on the kitchen since we never used it (why would you while in Istanbul?!), and the beds were comfortable. Elif was great with communication, and was able to arrange convenient airport transfers for us. If we come back to Istanbul we will want to stay at this apartment.

Lauren, both apartments were not good. We moved to a first floor apartment but bathroom leaked, wall was open for pipe repair. Water heater did not work properly, was difficult to arrange the water in shower. There was a very small TV in living room. Your price was more than double of the equal places around. Places were mispresented in VRBO web site.

Sleepless in Istanbul

Perfect location! Overall, the property was very comfortable and cozy; Clean and white extra towels and bed linen. Dish soap, washing powder, toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning supplies. Romantic bedroom with a lovely glow from the red curtains in the mornings.Plenty of coat hangers.Clean and crisp cotton sheets and lovely Turkish bedspreads. Very nice hosts who responded to our requests in a timely way. Elif"s father came to sort out the drain and hot water issues within minutes and a frying pan was delivered almost immediately upon request. He was an absolute gentleman. Thank you so much since my husband loves eggs for breakfast. This is a fantastic location!. We arrived late at night and Elif and Marco were gracious enough to meet us at the apartment. We were very grateful. We stayed for three weeks but we had two problems: Sadly, the kitchen was very dirty and took hours to clean. Toilet and shower also needed clean. We spend our lives traveling so are used to these things, but disappointing. Nothing bleach and elbow grease can't fix. BIG problem were the young men in the apartment below who made significant noise EVERY SINGLE NIGHT during the quiet hours for the entire three weeks. Marco and Elif did their best to contact the owners of the apartment but nothing worked. Loud shouting for hours on end, doors slamming throughout the night, glass smashing, burning of "stuff" out on the stairway and coming into our apartment, men coming and going all night. We loved the apartment. We loved Istanbul. We loved hearing the Call to Prayer. The young men below are spoiling the apartment for Elif and Marco to rent. We loved your place but we were exhausted after three weeks without a good night's sleep. We know you did your best. Thanks for the offer of a move but we really didn't want to move two more times within a week. Hope you can get those guys sorted. We know it wasn't your fault. Thanks for all the guide books. They were of great help. We will return and would stay here again if its quiet at night. Good luck and thank you. Fantastic location! Couldn't be better!

CONVENIENT YET QUIET

The apartment is very conveniently located to the very important sites of Istanbul such as the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the hippodrome and the underground cisterns. Public transportation is a 5 minute walk towards the Sultanahmet station to get almost everywhere and lots of stores to buy groceries and lots of good eating places nearby if one doesn't feel like cooking. Except for the steep climb to get to the apartment, we loved everything about the apartment and everything worked. I would highly recommend this to other travelers who prefer to rent an apartment rather than stay in a hotel.

Excellent location, perfect apartment!

We stayed with a (Dutch) family of six adults in this apartment. The location is excellent and the service was very good as well. Great reception by Marco, fast wifi connection and clean bathroom and toilets. Kitchen had a coffee-maker and toaster, so we could also enjoy our cup of coffee and breakfast. The apartment was nearby the central square of Sultanahmet and tramline 1 (5 min. walk) which brings you to Eminonu (ferry dock), Kabatas (dock for ferry to Princess Islands & Dolmabahce palace) and to the funicular of Tunel. We've been in Istanbul before, usually in hotels, but this was great!

Very good apartment

Excellent location - plenty of restaurants around and all the main tourist attractions are within walking distance (The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, The ?stanbul Archaeological Museum, Galata Tower, Grand Bazaar). We have been to a Sufi Music Concert & Whirling Dervishes Ceremony - 5 min. walking distance from the apartment at the Dervish Dede Efendi House. It was very interesting. For the airport transfer we used Efendi Travel company and were very happy with the service and price. There is a Dia Sa Supermarket - 10 min. walking distance from the apartment (on the Üçler Sk/Peykhane Caddesi). We were very impressed by how helpful our greeter Marco was. Great Apartment. Great Location. Great Vacation.

It was my first time to Turkey and my first visit to Istanbul. We lucked out by picking this great apartment, in this great neighborhood Sultanahmet, which turned out to be the two best choices!! It was so nice to come “home” to a cozy, clean, relaxing space after a full day of walking all over. The apartment is spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. It has all the amenities: A/C, insulated windows, washer/dryer, drying rack, ironing board, satellite tv, and free wi-fi. A bonus was the stunning view of the Blue Mosque out the kitchen window!!! There was also surprise extras that were provided, like toilet paper, Kleenex, hand soap and a jug of bottled water. Thanks Marco!! I have rented many houses and apartments in Italy and I always have to bring/buy the household necessities: toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, Kleenex. So to have some of those things on hand was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. The apartment and neighborhood is perfectly located. All the major sights to see are in close walking distance (The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Hippodrome, Archaeology Museum, Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, Arasta Bazaar, Istiklal Street, Galata Bridge). The apartment is also close to all mass transit: tram, Sirkeci train station, and the ferries. And it is close to the sea, on both sides. Marco, the caretaker gave us a thorough and quick apartment orientation/ download the night we arrived and everything went great and was smooth sailing. We also chose and paid to have the transportation service to and from the airport. I found it be very convenient and well worth the cost. It took away any unnecessary last minute worry. The neighborhood is touristy but it quiets down at night. The area is full of restaurants and shops to visit. There were so many choices. We had great meals every night. To sum it up, when I go back to Istanbul I would stay in this apartment and I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone going to Istanbul. The apartment is perfect for a large family, two smaller families, 3 couples, a group of friends, or a girl’s get away. Thanks to Fernando and Lauren, the management company. And thanks to Marco and Elif, the care takers.

Trust me this is the place to stay!

For those who know Akbiyik street you will understand, for those who don't, listen to me carefully. Stay no where in Istanbul other than Akbiyik street, and no where else than this Apartment. This was my third visit to my Constantinople and the apartment is perfect. Huge for Istanbul standards, perfectly situated in walking distance to everything. The kitchen is not up to north American standards but who cares! Eating out is the only way to go in Istanbul but you can certainly make a perfectly wonderful breakfast if you insist. look no further and enjoy Constantinople, the cradle of Christianity, the Mother of Islam and truly the centre of the known world.
