Walking distance to so many temples, gardens, steps from the Geisha district, shopping & restaurants. The pictures I saw on google maps of the street and immediate surroundings looked a little iffy, but it was just fine, and very quiet. The hotel was absolutely spotless and very comfortable; the staff fabulous, and the small restaurant well run with a very decent breakfast at a reasonable price. It is also only a short block from a 7/11 C-store and a tad further to a small Fresco market, which was handy. Don't laugh (like I did initially) 7/11's in Japan are really good at what they do.
