The space:
A great place for those who want to get in touch with nature, spend time outdoors, observe a wide range of wildlife in its true environment, enjoy a working ranch atmosphere, disconnect from busy everyday life, or simply enjoy a quiet and relaxing get-away. This cabin offers an authentic farm experience on Wild Horse Mountain Farms, in rural wilderness of British Columbia, Canada. This is one of two cabins on our farm available to rent through Air BnB.

Check us out on FB at Wild Horse Mountain Farms Chicken

HUNTERS - Our secluded location, surrounded by crown land also makes an ideal hunting location in the fall (as you will see from the piles of antler “sheds” around our place), and we are happy to welcome respectful hunters.

Our cabin, set on our Organic farm in rural British Columbia, enables guests to get lost in the peace and quiet of the country, recharge and disconnect, enjoy the beauty of untouched nature, experience all forms of wildlife and farm animals, have access to endless exploring of hundreds of lakes and forests (some recently charred by wildfire), and experience first hand the workings of a rural farm in Canada. Guests are able to hike, or cycle, directly from the cabin on to endless acres of public ("crown") land. Just 2 km away in the ever popular Loon Lake, with trophy trout fishing, as well as the opportunity for boat/canoe rentals. There are many, many more lakes, hiking opportunities, and scenic back roads drives, within a 1 hour drive. Guests also have the opportunity to purchase our farm raised meat and eggs during their stay. (products and availability may change and are dependent on season and customer sales)

Keep in mind that we offer an authentic rural Canadian farm experience, complete with everything each season brings, including; heat, cold, dust, mud, bugs, unreliable cell service, no local grocery stores, and wood burning fireplaces to keep warm. When renting in fall, winter, or early spring, be sure to read the details of WATER below!

Please Note: If you are looking for a polished and commercialized accommodation with every convenience please consider that our cabin may not be what you're looking for. However, if you're looking to get close to nature, enjoy wildlife, peace and quiet, and an authentic farm experience then our cabins are right for you!

ACTIVITIES:
A very popular area for hunting, snowmobiling, atving, kayaking and outdoor enthusiasts. We are surrounded by thousands of acres of crown land - just a few minute drive to access. There is no shortage of outdoors to explore, and hundreds of lakes near by.

THE FARM:
Our ranch is family run and fully operating, with baby lambs in the spring, haying in the summer, as well as many chickens, dogs, horses, cows through out the year. We sell organic eggs, chicken, lamb & beef through out the year, which are available for purchase to any visitors.

The cabin is set on the farm, and although very private, the farm does function around this cabin. You may hear the odd tractor drive by on its way to the fields, or the sheep & horses calling to be fed. (don't worry, we wont make this noise as the sun comes up!)
For your safety, guests are not allowed in pens with the animals, and are expected to respect all pets and farm animals. Please keep in mind that we have working dogs on our farm that are loose in the yard. If you have concerns with this please message us prior to booking.

THE CABIN:
The cabin has been restored from its original shape from 1940. It is 250 square feet. It has a fully equipped kitchen, complete with coffee maker, stove/oven, sink, mini fridge, cookware and dishes. It has a beautiful hand made log queen sized bed, and the option of a double size mattress for the floor that pulls out from under the main bed. It makes for cozy sleeping but the mattress can be pushed back out of the way for the day time. All linens are included.

The cabin is heated solely with a fireplace/woodstove. Firewood for heating the cabin is provided. If guests are planning to have a late check-in time during the moderately-chilly months they are welcome to request us to start a fire before their arrival - advanced notice can ensure this (as we are not necessarily home a few hours prior to a guests arrival, if a late request is made). *Please keep this in mind if you are doing a same-day booking* During the indefinitely colder months we will be sure to start a fire and warm the cabin up for your arrival, however, after that it is guests responsibility to keep the fire going if needed. Of course, guests are welcome to request us stoking the fire during cold times if they plan to be out for the day, and we will gladly do so if we are available. *As we respect our guests privacy, we will not to do this unless requested.

The bathroom is complete with ONLY a toilet. (There are no shower facilities at this time) There is running water, but you must heat your own hot water.

When the temperature drops below freezing there will be no running water in the cabin. This typically begins around mid-October until the end of March, however varies from year to year. Please be aware of this before booking around October & March/April, keeping in mind that we can not predict the nighttime temperature in advance more specifically than this. During the times the water freezes we will provide the cabins with a bucket of water with a tap to use in the sink, as well as buckets of water they can use to still flush the toilet. Simply dump some water down the toilet bowl to flush.

Small campfires may be permitted, but on approval only. Provincial campfire bans are often in effect from early June until September, but differ from year to year. Campfire wood is available for purchase, or bring your own. Guests must check with us before lighting any campfires.

This cabin is perfect for guests looking to get back to nature, enjoy a farm atmosphere, disconnect from busy everyday life, and enjoy a simple, quiet and relaxing get-away.

PETS:
Pets are considered. A message, and approval, prior to booking is required. A $10/day pet fee does apply (not per pet), on arrival. Because it is a working farm with many animals and livestock, we require all pets on leash when outside - for their own safety, and the safety of our livestock. We do ask for owners to pick up after their dogs - doggy bags are great if you have, or shoveling and throwing in to the bushes or animal pens will also suffice.
For everyone's comfort we make a point of limiting our dogs interaction with guests' pets at first, (we will keep our dogs inside and only by our side if you have a visiting pet) because we understand it is important for any pet introductions to be done with both owners present. Our large dogs can be a bit intimidating for visiting pets, so we understand to need to have "doggy" introductions done in a controlled manner and only when a/if appropriate.
Guest access
Access to walk around property and interact with farm animals from outside of pens.
Access, directly from cabin, to endless acres of wilderness for hiking or cycling.
Guests have their own parking area in front of the cabin, and full private use of the cabin.
Guests are free to enjoy walking around the farm although, for your own safety, guests are not permitted to go through any closed gates without permission, (with the exception of driving through driveway gates to access in and out of the property), and never permitted to go in to pens with the animals. We encourage guests to enjoy the nature and wildlife surrounding the property, although respect for privacy around the yard surrounding our private small log home is always appreciated (located alongside the driveway and between the two cabins).

Other things to note
Cleaning Fee - see pricing quote

Pet Fee - A $10/day pet fee does apply, on arrival.

SUMMER LONG WEEKENDS - 3 NIGHT MINIMUM STAY

RENTING 2 CABINS?

2 cabins are available to rent on our farm.
As only one cabin is equipped with a shower, we realize groups who are renting both cabins may all want to take advantage of this amenity offered in the single cabin. As a result, there will be an extra $5 charge per person/day for rental of this cabin, in order to take advantage of the shower & hot water in the “Cowboy Cabin”. (Unless the total group size for both cabins is 4 people or less - in which case we will consider the 4 guests utilizing the shower as the 4 guests already included in the price of the Cowboy Cabin)

This may also be discussed with us upon booking, and exceptions can be made for those on very short stays and/or have no desire to make use of the shower or hot water in the Cowboy Cabin. If bookings are made before this price is adjusted for you then the extra fee may be paid after the original booking, or as cash on arrival.

The cabins are private from each other and at opposite ends of the yard from each other, with our house in between. For this reason, if one group is renting both cabins we ask that they congregate in front of either cabin, rather than meeting in the middle of the yard.
