Villa Palmeras was a great place to end our travels before heading home. It's close to the Cancun airport, has very attentive staff, and is in a quiet area close to the undeveloped forests of Cancun. Our taxi driver didn't know where it was and dropped us off about six blocks away, but the neighborhood is quiet and there isn't a lot of traffic, so we walked the rest of the way. The pool and game room are nice. The on-site restaurant was surprisingly good -- much better than other local restaurants where we paid more for meals. The hotel is very secure, with a three meter tall fence and huge metal front door; I'm assuming it used to be an estate mansion or something that was transformed into a hotel, but could be wrong. It's a very quick taxi ride to the airport and is a nice place to get away from spring break crowds.

The villa is very nice, excellent service and it is a beautiful place. The area around is rural and very dark in the evenings and at night, you need a taxi anywhere you go and the transportation is costly.

HIGHS of my stay at villa palmeras: - close to airport (what i needed this night) - huge room with HUGE balcony (had the jr suite to myself) - free water - the best michelada i've ever had in my life - quick check-in & check-out - received a call in my room when my transportation had arrived, which was nice - pool / garden area were GORGEOUS and so well maintained. pool was very warm too! - good water pressure for the shower - no issues with noisiness (had seen another review that described it as an echo chamber, but this was not my experience) - very few guests. they only have a few rooms, and so it had an intimate feel! things that were 'fine': - food options. dinner and breakfast were ok but not great. looking back I would have preferred to try a restaurant nearby. - food service was a bit slow, but i understand it was only one person on deck for serving. in my case, I sat at a table for ~10 min before I was approached by a server. not necessarily a deal breaker, but just something to be aware of things to know ahead of YOUR stay: - TV channels did not work. unsure if this was just user error on my end, but a bit disappointing. - Had to pay for dinner directly with waitstaff instead of charging it to my room. Make sure you have cash on hand! (meal two alcoholic drinks came out to about $35) - I was eaten alive by mosquitos when I ate outside the night I stayed. Like 20 bites all over my legs. Be sure to bring bug repellant or eat inside.

Nice quiet and clean property. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed ourselves. Pricey getting here from airport we took hotel shuttle. Otherwise a great stay.
