First, the good:
Charming farmhouse-style house, very comfortable. Enclosed porch is a great quiet place to sit. The large living room has an electronically-controlled fireplace, plenty of comfy seats/sofa, and satellite TV, which made for some great movie-nights. Driveway to the front door, and an attached garage with a door to the house was handy packing/unpacking the car in the rain. They have a full-sized grill they said we could use, and the kitchen is well-stocked, so there were plenty of options for meal-prep. Large kitchen table for comfortable dining after enjoying some of the beautiful hikes in the area. Plenty of clean towels and linens were provided. Fire pit in the front yard was a fun nighttime activity (supermarket a few miles away sells firewood). Large, modern washer and dryer in a spacious laundry room. Hosts were very responsive, but there weren't many issues we needed to ask them about.
Cons:
I really only have two complaints. One was the lighting. All the lights worked fine, but the lighting wasn't great. Not to the extent that we had trouble doing things, but some of the rooms could be better-lit. (This could just be a matter of personal preference; my kids didn't complain about it, and they're not shy about complaining, so it could be just me.)
The biggest problem was the internet. The connection is slow. I mean, really, really slow. (Yes, I rebooted the router.) So slow so that it was barely, if at all, usable most of the time. My phone did not have a data plan so I was relying on the house internet to do things (also for my computer). My wife's phone did have a data plan, but the reception in the house was pretty poor as well (but better than the house's wifi). It was a limited data plan, so it was a real shame to have to use so much of it when wifi should have been available. A reliable internet connection is practically a necessity when you're travelling, and the slow speeds made looking up info about places and booking activities take 20-30 minutes when it should have taken 2-3; I'd rather have spent that time enjoying myself. This is not a small issue and is the sole reason I took off a star from this otherwise wonderful house in a beautiful area. (At the end of my stay I came across a box in a cabinet in the laundry room with some DSL filters and line conditioners. Maybe these should be installed to improve the connection? This was when we were packing the car to leave, so I didn't have a chance or need to check.)
