Best Western Hotel Montecarlo

Calle Specchieri 463 San Marco, Venice - Map
"Great location. Terrific staff. "
Good choice for a small quaint hotel that is very close to the attractions. A boutique hotel, not at all like a North American 'best western'. Staff were very welcoming and capable. Would definitely stay there again. Easy to walk there with luggage from the public Grand Canal water bus at St Mark's Square.

Hotel Antica Locanda Al Gambero

Calle dei Fabbri, 4687, Venice - Map
Thoroughly enjoyed my 3-day stay here. I only have praise for this lovely hotel, with very friendly staff who are just charming, helpful and all speak English well. They were very welcoming every day. I asked for a quiet room and it was perfect high up and overlooking the canal. It was comfortable with Italianate furniture, comfy bed, all amenities and extras like refreshments and slippers. The cheerful porters carried my suitcase up and down the stairs. The buffet breakfast was amazing and sumptuous! Everything you need to set you up for the day including four varieties of croissant, breads, speciality cakes, pancakes, fresh fruit salad, whole fresh fruits, yoghurt, hams, cheeses, many fruit juices, as well as cooked English breakfast! With lovely coffees and teas served by cheerful waitresses. The hotel is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac off the main lane between St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge 5 minutes each way so quiet but really convenient to all attractions! This hotel has it completely right and the price was really reasonable during Carnival time! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be near the attractions but in a quiet location and have friendly service, a comfortable room and an incredible breakfast! Don't hesitate to book; I'll be returning!

Hotel Arlecchino

"Perfect pre/post cruise hotel. "
It doesn't get any better than Hotel Arlecchino for a pre or post cruise stay. It's a beautiful hotel that comes with a complete breakfast and its within walking distance of the pier...with the help of the People Mover. It also allows you to take a land taxi to/from the airport saving you the trouble of carrying your luggage to a water taxi. The front desk staff is wonderful. They are very welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are clean and very quaint. The location is excellent. We chose to take a public water taxi to St Marks Square after we checked in and then just spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon walking back to the hotel through the winding streets of Venice. It was our second stay here and would book it again in a heartbeat.

"Convenient hotel close to Santa Lucia Station"
Short stay of 2 nights. Ideal location for quick access to the station and when I saw other people trying to get onto the busy waterbuses with luggage, I was glad that we had chosen to stay here. Our room was quiet with no disturbance from other guests and minimal noise, even with the windows open. Staff were approachable and made the effort to include my teenage nephew in conversations.

"Great cosy hotel, perfect location!"
As part of our honeymoon, we stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Pagnelli. The location of this hotel was ideal for Piazza San Marco as it was literally around the corner. The room was cosy, and cute albeit slightly small. However, it had all the basics that we needed from it. The breakfast selection was small, but had the basics required. Check-in was efficient as was checkout and the view from the terrace out onto the Grand Canal was breathtaking – i would highly recommend that the hotel offer breakfast out on that terrace as it was really something and we could have stayed watching the activities on the Canal with a drink for hours. I would recommend, that if you come in via the train station that you get a water taxi to take you to this hotel. My husband and i made the mistake of walking, with a 24kg suitcase and a 27kg suitcase through the streets and we very quickly realised what a mistake that was! (we’d google mapped it and it had said that it was a 30 minute walk, which might be true without the suitcases!) The staff here were also very friendly, and the food in the outside restaurant looked lovely!

"Quiet and relaxing "
Staff was very informative and helpful about restaurant ideas and the area. The room 28 was smallish but with a wonderful partial view of grand canal. Bed and pillow on the firm side but still fairly comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely and relaxing.

"quaint hotel on the canal"
The staff was friendly and welcoming. They stored our luggage for us while we went out to see the city since, it was way before check-in time. When we came back later, our luggage was already in our room. The room was spacious and clean. They were extra large bath towels in the bathroom along with hand towels. The location was very convenient, across the street from all the buses and close to the train station and people mover and grand Canal. Easy to walk around from that location. Everything was very clean. Very friendly staff

Albergo Commercio e Pellegrino

Calle delle Rasse, Castello 4551/A, Venice - Map
"Quality hotel close to the sea"
Albergo Commercio e Pellegrino was a quality stay (my wife and I stayed 2 nights). We had a little trouble with the air conditioner, but other than that, the room was nice and the hotel staff was excellent. They gave us some good recommendations for local restaurants and gelaterias. Would recommend this hotel - especially given its close proximity to the seacoast where the water taxis & boats come in and depart from.
