Fondamenta della Fenice 2557 / A, Venice - Map
"Well positioned and comfortable hotel."
It was an easy walk from the Giglio vaporetto stop. We arrived before check in time but our room was ready, so that was a good start. The room was comfortable with a four poster bed. We were given some good tips for restaurants not yet fully on the tourist radar.

"Small modern and beautifully designed hotel"
A very nice hotel close to Saint Angelo vaporetto stop and Saint Angelo square in a quiet part of the S. Marco district. Short walk to S. Macro square and the Rialto. Convenient for the Alilaguna, the airport water bus which calls at the vaporreto stop every 30 min.

Luna Hotel Baglioni

San Marco, 1243, Venice - Map
"Overall, OK"
Staff was VERY nice and helpful. Location of hotel is great, just steps from St. Marks Square. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but I spoke with people who did, and they liked it. Very nice bathroom. On the down side, the bedding was odd - sheets honestly felt like burlap, and you could literally get a friction burn getting into bed. (I saw another review with similar complaints) - I dunno if they're starching the hell out of them, or they just bought really cheap linens. The lighting system in the room was apparently installed by Edison himself. Confusing, some levers work, some don't, some do some of the time - and even with everything turned on it's dark. Maid cranked on the heat every time she entered, and AFAIK the A/C was shut off (Early Nov.) so the only way to cool off the room was to open the windows - which had no screens, so mosquitoes were an issue. Considering the price (which was pretty steep) I'll probably try somewhere else next time - but if I ended up there I wouldn't be unhappy, if that makes sense. MM MD

Liassidi Palace Hotel

Castello, Ponte dei Greci 3405, Venice - Map
"Close enough"
The Liassidi Palace is slightly off the main tourist path, but still close enough to the water bus stop, San Zaccaria, and San Marco. It was even not that far to walk to the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim. The staff and accommodations were exceptional and the room was pleasant, but a little small. We did not pay for a canal view, but did have a view of the inner courtyard. We did ask to change rooms because our first room only had a bathtub with a handheld shower and we got a room with a stand up shower; the staff were very accommodating. I recommend this place and would stay here again.

LaGare Hotel Venezia - Mgallery Collection

Riva Longa, 49, Venice - Map
"Excellent Stylish Hotel"
LaGare Hotel is located on the tranquil island of Murano, close to the City of Venice. The hotel sent a motor launch to collect us from the airport on arrival, despite in being 8pm in the evening. The hotel was stylish, both in public areas and bedroom. The bedroom was very comfortable, stylish and furnished and equipped to a very high standard. We had breakfast at the hotel throughout our stay and the restaurant was excellent, food range was extensive and staff very attentive and helpful. We used the complimentary motor launch service to travel between Murano and Venice throughout our 3 night stay, which was a big bonus. Overall the hotel was excellent and very good value. We would definitely return to the LeGare if visiting Venice again.
