Cool house at great spot on Smith River
The view of the Smith River from the house’s 2nd story deck was great. We enjoyed swimming and wading in the river. The furniture and beds were all very comfortable. It was quite warm during our stay, so A/C would be nice, but not absolutely necessary. The ground floor stayed cool/comfortable and the evening breeze cooled off the upstairs at night.

Beautiful location, would visit again
Spent a week here and had a great time. The house is absolutely beautiful, loved the deck overlooking the river. Would 100% stay here again. However, the kitchen’s cleanliness was lacking (the provided spices were really sticky, some cups were not clean, but the rest of the house was spotless), and it was a challenge communicating with the owner/manager about pre-existing damages (it is a Vacasa-managed property). Additionally, a neighbor’s dog runs loose in the neighborhood and came onto the property several times, which made taking my dogs out a bit concerning. Managed to not interact with the dog at all so it wasn’t too big of an issue but something to be aware of for other dog owners visiting.

Quaint and Cozy
This is an older home that gives a sense of nostalgia. The view of the river was exceptional. We had a slight problem with the water pressure; however, the landlord's response was swift and it did not impede our vacation. They have notes around the house that are very helpful. One was about ants which helped us ensure we did not attract any. Overall, our family loved the house and would return.

Beautiful and Quiet
Beautiful view of the Smith River in a quiet surrounding. The circular stair to the lower-level bedroom may not be for small children.

Clean and spacious
My sisters and I were very happy with our 4 night stay. Lots of natural light in the living room, great deck, everything was super clean and new. Even a big washer and dryer. We used headlamps in the kitchen to prepare supper - just one very dim overhead lamp - and a couple of other quirks in the house, but nothing that interfered with enjoying our stay. Note: Be careful if you have small dogs or crawling babies. We built a temporary “wall” around the hole in the floor where the spiral stairs emerge, or our blind dachshund would have fallen through to the first floor. The only negative for me is that this isn’t really a VRBO rental. It’s VaCasa. I’m still trying to figure out how to contact the property manager about a few things. (Ex. Directions said to leave garbage and recyclables in bins, but there were no bins. Left bags in garage instead.) VaCasa also has a complicated rental process. After you get a confirmation email, be on the lookout for further emails asking you to confirm your identity. Your confirmation isn’t necessarily confirmed! Fortunately I gave my email a last glance before I left for vacation. Then none of the links in the VaCasa email or phone app worked, but I googled a phone number and an agent helped me. Thank goodness! But nerve-racking. The rental was great. The process to get it was stressful. And communication is bad - all due to how VaCasa works. But the rental house itself was just perfect for us!

peaceful escape right by the river
We loved the location - very quiet and peaceful and away from everything. The river is beautiful and very clear. One thing to note is that there wasn't anywhere to go for a walk due to being right off the hwy. The kitchen was stocked much better than we were led to believe, which was a nice surprise. However, the light is fairly dim , which was a challenge and something to be aware of. I would suggest bringing a lamp. Also bring extra paper towels if you will be doing a lot of cooking. We were there over Thanksgiving, so unfortunately one roll was not sufficient for us. Another thing to note is the lack of proper dining table, which I somehow missed from the photos. There is a table set up as a desk and a small folding table that we made work. There were ants as others have mentioned, but it was a small inconvenience. The rooms and beds were very comfortable, with adequate heating and cooling as needed. That deck is to die for, and aside from my notes, it truly is a wonderful house for relaxing and unwinding.
