When I look for a resort, my husband’s wish list includes only 2 things: food and amazing beach. Viva Wyndham has an amazing beach. It is gorgeous and not rocky at all. I took water shoes and didn’t use them at all. The food was typical resort food, not the best buffet but for the price I didn’t complain. I also understand that during COVID they probably aren’t able to showcase much. Only 3 of the restaurants were open: Italian, Mexican, and Mediterranean. All 3 were a nice change from the buffet. The snack bar had some great options as well. The drinks were flowing all the time. Antonio waited on us at the beach and he was fabulous. Some advice, I highly recommend tipping the staff as you’ll get better service in all areas. I always tip and have a great experience. My room is cleaned well, my drinks never run empty, etc. This resort is in Playacar and is a gated community. We biked and walked around and I always felt safe. Cab rides to playa, 5th Ave are about 150 pesos each way. If you venture out, I highly recommend a taco place called El Fogon...delicious. They take credit card. If you go to Tulum, the locals recommend El Camello, good seafood but cash only!! We did an excursion to Isla Mujeres and that was fun. We also rented a van/driver for the day and went to see 2 cenotes in the area. We come to Cancun every year and stay at different resorts. This was my first to Playacar and I’ll be returning. The resort feels old but for what you pay, no complaints.
