The staff was very friendly, unfortunately the room smelled horrible, a very chemically strange smell that did not go away despite opening the window. The grounds were kind of dirty, trash cans outside each room under the AC were gross. There was a hair when I pulled back the sheets. For a budget place it wasn't horrible but unless you really just need the cheapest option I would not stay here again. Also, the walls were very thin so you could hear the person next door watching TV. Even if it wasn't very loud, people yelling a couple rooms down, etc

Reasonably priced option
The price was good, and the staff was very nice. The room was clean and the location good for our purposes. The bed was too hard for us and there was a lot of early morning noise which made it hard to sleep.

It is an old hotel located not far from the beach. It was PERFECT for what I needed. I will definitely stay again. It's funny I read so many reviews of them saying such horrible things about this place bed bugs bad service I found none of this not going to lie we did check the bed nothing and as far as the customer service goes the gentleman at the front desk was amazing.

Owner friendly. Great location many restaurants near by walking distance. Beach down the street a few blocks. Beds comfortable. Fridge and microwave. Shower could have given better hot water especially now that the weather is cooler. Room clean and spacious

Everything about our stay was great. The staff was kind and helpful, the rooms were very clean and well maintained. The grounds were clean, pets are allowed but I wasn't bothered by anyone's pet, no barking or noise.

I booked on line from pictures based of price of room and was expecting something of much better quality. Very disappointed. Room was OK, but TV was impossible to us, AC was a noise generator, and wife unhappy with cleanliness.

This place is really close to the Oceana Beach entrance. There are good dining options nearby that only takes up to 3 blocks to get there. The towels in our room had black markings on it, and bedding had what looked like sand was all over it. There were some crumbs under the bedsheets that we felt poked us. There was no soap dish or ledge to set our body soaps in the shower, but they did provide us with a few bars of soap and shampoo so we didn't have to ask for more (traveling with a little family). We had a pull-out bed with the sofa so that was nice as all 6 of us had something to sleep on, but it was not the comfiest as you could feel the springs. The beds however were surprisingly comfy. Walls are thin and so are the floors. Overall, might come back to this place if we want to stay near oceano beach again as it was more affordable than others nearby, but if you don't mind spending another $100 bucks, I'd say you'll be more happy elsewhere.
