"Really loved the gym facilities and brand new peloton equipment, room was very nice just small same with the lobby and cafe amenities but the staff was great"

"We got a much smaller room than we booked. Hotel was nice but room was small and not what I booked and paid for. We requested more towels/wash clothes due to them giving us only one set for two people and they never brought them to us. It was ok for barely being in the room but not worth what we had to pay."

Silversmith Hotel Chicago Downtown

"The staff at Silversmith is exceptional. Lucia and Susan at the front desk were so kind and helpful. While the room we originally checked into was beautiful, it was on the third floor with the windows facing the L train tracks. Lucia assisted us in finding another room for the remainder of our stay (6 nights total) The high ceilings and spacious hotel rooms are a huge plus. Location is super convenient. We appreciated the daily coffee available in the mornings (nice and strong), and the water provided daily. There’s also a delicious and very poplar coffee shop right across the street - Goddess and the Baker (breakfast sandwiches, omelette, pastries, juicers, coffee, etc). There is also an authentic Japanese soufflé pancake spot right around the corner from the front of the hotel. We went multiple times during our stay. Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel experience for our first visit in the beautiful city of Chicago! We would not hesitate to stay at the Silversmith again for a future visit. Too bad the bar wasn’t too lively in the evenings, and would close pretty early (10 p.m.) most days. Even so, the bartenders and staff were still great during the times we hung out in the large seating area. We did not try the à la carte breakfast (not included in the stay) so don’t have any feedback on that."

"I am not a negative or difficult guest and it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, but somehow this place had good reviews when I booked, and how awful it was affected my stay in downtown Chicago, so I feel compelled to warn others. Carpets were literally sticky. Disgusting. Shaved facial hair from previous guest(s) on the bathroom counter. Cold disgusting coffee in the common area. Rude, disinterested staff when I asked for something simple. Business center did not work, at all. Room windows are ineffective. Complete light and sound transmission. You must bring an eye mask and ear plugs if you want any sleep. I will never stay here again. I would be disappointed if I had paid $50 per night, and I paid way, way more than that."

"Missed out flight connection and stayed overnight. Got in late and out early so probably not the best view of this hotel. Only real complaint was the noise from the planes taking off being so close to the airport. The airport shuttle service was great!"

"The highlight of this hotel, aside from it's obvious beauty and charm, is the staff. I had an issue with my room when I arrived, and they took immediate action to move me to a better suited room. Everyone I spoke to, from check in to bag holding to the gift shop, was kind, helpful, and eager to help. Also, I bought a scarf/shawl from the gift shop that saved me on this trip during the chilly Chicago nights. It even inspired my friend to pick one up, too! I also grabbed some Garrett's popcorn for my mother-in-law from the gift shop, which was great because it saved me from having to go to the actual shop for it. I will say the breakfast buffet was just okay, not worth the price in my opinion. But the little food shop by the elevators was very good and had pretty much everything I wanted and needed. My only complaint is that the air conditioning in the rooms was very finicky. I know it's an older hotel though. My first room had an AC problem and was even a little musty smelling, and while my second room was much better smelling, the AC still didn't get very cold, so I woke up quite often during the night due to being too warm. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again."
