The internal signage wasn’t great, trying to figure out where breakfast was, for instance. But the breakfast was good, and the places to hang out were fabulous once I found them. Ask for earplugs! The front desk has them, and that makes the train noise bearable when you’re trying to sleep!

No light proof for upper bunks. Anybody turning on the light will heavily disturb the upper bunks. The building is not noise proof at all. The noise from trains and cars are horrible. Can’t fall asleep at all.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the location was super convenient for walking/commuting downtown. I booked a bed in the 8-bed female dorm and only one other person was in the room, but I would have appreciated it if the person at front desk put me in a different bunk considering the whole room was empty. It made for a bit of an awkward meeting with the other guest and I ended up checking out early because I just wasn't comfortable with her after that.

This place has gone way downhill over the years. They remodeled the rooms with hard floors and steel beds that give a "prison" vibe. It's less friendly and comfortable and more utilitarian and cold.

If you are going to the Chicago Blues Festival or downtown, the Hi Chicago is a must stay. I was able to get great sleep on the twin size bed. I will not stay anywhere else while in Chicago. Perfect for me. Cheers

Enjoyed the eight bed women dormitory. Separate shower, toilet, sink in the high ceiling large rectangular room. Perhaps a round high top table would assist with additional countertop. Over 65'ers speak up and ask for bottom bunk.
