"Hotel by the beach"
I booked the Ala Moana suite for the fist part of my stay and a standard room for the latter part. As I was an Expedia Gold Member, the hotel upgraded me to the suite for my entire stay which was great. The hotel staff were very friendly. The two things I would say could improve is the condition of the room and the room cleanliness. The room is a bit old and could be updated (but still generally comfortable). The room was quite clean at the beginning of my stay, but I found that the daily cleaning wasn't thorough enough. While the cleaners changed the towels and replaced toiletries daily, I don't think they thoroughly cleaned the bathroom (such as washing the shower) the whole week I was there.

"Nice hotel close to beach, BUT . . . "
We got to the hotel and all was great! Overall very nice experience. But. . . we paid for an ocean view and we did have that, but we also had the delivery trucks beeping the backup horns at 2, 3 and 4 am in the morning. We were there for 5 nights and it was the worse sleep for being on a vacation. It most likely would not have made a difference if we had a mountain view being there was another hotel on that side of the hotel too. Most likely the best view would have been the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet and the all other services were very pleasant. As we checked out of our room, we were checking around the room and in checking under our bed we found a pair of flip flops that had been left by a previous visitor.

"One night in Honolulu "
Finished off a carnival cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii, last port being Honolulu. Stayed one night. The hotel is a $20 (15min) drive from the pier. And a $40 (30min taxi to the airport. Arrived at the hotel 5hours early and at no fee was easliy able to check in/drop off our luggage in a secure room until checking into the hotel (which I was able to do an hour early). the hotel is Located a very short walk (5min) to Waikiki beach. Some of the ocean view rooms may have a direct ocean view however the majority have city views or "interrupted" ocean views. The island has a very strong Asian presence but is full of multiple cultural influences which is definitely reflected in its wide variety of food options. Also if you like shopping your in luck because this area has TONS of stores from low to high name brands most stores open at 9am. Overall the area is very clean and safe. There is a small homeless presence (but not aggressive at all) and lots of police. Due to everyone's "time adjustments" and "jet lag" it seems to have a healthy night life as well as a large early rising crowd. the hotel staff are very polite and knowledgable. The concierge desk had lots of tour and excursion options. the north shore of the island is slighlty less crowded and carries a different vibe as most of the things to do there are nature related activities. North shore is about $200 cab ride away so renting a car or a tour is a better option. The hotel has an enterprise rent a car place right inside.

"Beautiful but busy."
We came back after many years for our second honeymoon. Much was the same fabulous experience that we first had: great room with ocean front panoramic vistas, just across street from sandy Waikiki beach with Diamond Head nearby. But it also was a little too busy for our tastes (especially after coming from Hyatt Regency Maui). Too many high-ends shops, hard to make dinner reservations (and VERY pricey), and grand lobby was turned into some kind of bazaar. Also, room service menu was far more limited than we would have liked. But overall, especially with upper floor views from our lanai and proximity to heart of Waikiki beach, we had a very good experience.

Beautiful hotel, great design and feel. Probably better suited for singles/couples than families, but enjoyed staying there with my older children. Hawaii is quite expensive in terms of eating out and drinks such I didn't eat in the restaurant although it looked amazing.

"Nice hotel in a very convenient place. "
This hotel is in a very convenient place and close to all amenities around Waikiki. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. We checked out at 12 pm and as we had a 11 pm flight we were able to use a room in the hotel later in the day for one hour to freshen up all complimentary. Just another example of the extra mile the staff put in to make your stay special. Highly recommended hotel
