More than we expected
This is a quaint, out-of-the-way resort, which is not so quaint and not so out-of-way. A beautiful setting on a quiet lake. The staff made sure we were taken care of and our family enjoyed some time on the lake in peace & quiet.

A hidden gem
This resort is absolutely amazing! The view out our window was just gorgeous, and we loved being able to walk along the lakeshore. The hotel itself is very cozy, and well kept up. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a very homey and welcoming feel to it. They have a library of DVDs, books, puzzles and games that you can borrow while you are staying, and watch/play in your room. The staff was very friendly and had great recommendations for local restaurants. I was delighted to find a collection of locally found agates on display by the front desk, and I was able to buy a jar of them. I think it will serve as a beautiful keepsake from this trip, and I can't wait to come back and stay again.

Charming and cozy :)
Hanging Horn is such a hidden gem! They provided breakfast for us- things like cereal, yogurt, and pastries. One of the most surprising parts of our stay was the unlimited access we had to their canoes, kayaks, and other lake equipment. We took the canoe out on the lake, and had a wonderful time. This is such a charming little place. They have a large selection of dvds so we could watch some movies too. This is such a peaceful location too.

We found this gem online. We left from the cities to go to the north shore but found this stopping point between a busy wedding weekend to busy hiking. It was quiet and serene. Took a morning kayak ride on the still lake in the morning while watching the loons. Just what we needed!

Worth the drive
Very nice location and very friendly/helpful staff. Peaceful and quiet. The only negative was room 14 had very sketchy wifi. Verizon worked well there so was able to stream etc thru phone.

Nice property if you want some simple relaxing time in a wooded setting by one of MN's 10,000 lakes. The folks who run are very much "Minnesota nice". It's not luxurious, but is clean and in a nice setting.

Wish we had planned to stay more than one night. A gem of a find. Had the warmest welcome, only topped by the view from our room. Access to a canoe for an early morning paddle was a bonus.

Two thumbs up!
The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The site was breathtaking, despite everything being covered in snow (early February travel). My only caution is that the room did not have a way to adjust the temperature. It became very warm throughout the night, which typically is not an issue, but I cannot sleep when it is too warm. The bed was VERY comfortable.

Relaxing stay/beautiful view & room
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hanging Horn. Charlie, the owner, gave us a great Minnesota welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. Upon entering our lodge room, the first thing that caught my eye was with breath taking view from the 8 foot windows that overlooked the lake. Amazing!!! Our room had a warm, up north feel to it with knotty pine ceiling and wall. The only thing that I could say negative was the wifi was spotty. But who needs wifi when you have so much else! Disconnect from the world and enjoy nature!

We absolutely loved our stay at this resort. The staff was great. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The large windows to the lake made for a great view. Tucked up in the woods, I would recommend this place all day long!

If you have young children do NOT stay here! I was in town for a wedding and stayed at this property in the hotel portion. We checked in on a Friday and the next morning the owner told us to keep our kids quiet because someone complained they were jumping on beds and screaming which is absolutely not true. This place is creepy quiet the walls are paper thin. You basically have to whisper when you speak so try doing that with kids. It’s ridiculous I would never stay here only because it’s like your staying at a library.
