It is also where some of the largest cruise ships will dock. You can enjoy some duty free shopping at the port or venture into downtown. Keep in mind however that while the island is relatively safe there are always a few bad seeds so keep your money safe and don't carry a purse as recently someone was robbed in the downtown. Another note is to ensure you use the washroom at the port. If you go downtown they charge you a US dollar to use the facilities. Most places you shop at accept US dollars but will also accept East Carribean Dollar however it end up being way more expensive. I personally wouldn't travel with ECD again as all vendors graciously accept USD.
