The hotel itself is lovely, beautiful gardens and pool, we had a deluxe superior room with patio which was great, be prepared for a soft bed. We have mixed feelings about our stay. The breakfast is plentiful and we had one good evening meal, the rest were of poor quality. Our main gripe is with the female staff who were really surly and looked like they would rather be doing anything other than their role of waiting on tables. Our last evening meal we sat for 20 minutes before anyone came to even give us a menu and when she did arrive, we got place mats, no cutlery or menu and she left again without asking us what we wanted to drink. When we did ask her to come back and take an order she seemed most annoyed. Our starter arrived after 30 minutes with still no cutlery or drinks, in the end I went directly to the bar to order myself and she just stared at us. All the gentleman staff we encountered including the gardener and pool man were super friendly. One person especially stands out Ananan. He helped us plan a rather complicated trip and realise a family puzzle I was keen to solve. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we are very grateful. It is a shame not all the staff we encountered were as welcoming. I suppose it is also important to note that if you are after tranquility, Rodney Bay is not the place to stay. Also at the very top of the Island and as such more affordable, it is a long way from the main attractions around Soufriere.
